Hello again, Why when pigeon shooting should you go out into the Field with loads of tackle, seats, bags, nets, whizzers, decoys galore, hide poles, portable chemical toilet, kitchen sink, etc,etc,etc. When you can travel Light and Fast, just as the Apache did Gun, ammo, and knife........no decoys, use the hedgerows for concealment, build up half a dozen birds, study where they are on the move to, and deploy your gain there. Ok, your 50 yards away from the area you should have put down on.......leave them there and quickly move again till you get it bang on. Nothing worse than setting up hide poles, nets, decoys all out, all tackle set up, Whizzer racing round like something in the Fairground ? And low and behold, Mr Columba Palumbus decides to put down with his mates, on the opposite corner of the field your shooting Have you been there ?..........I have many times......What do you do ?......Stay put and hope they will come to you to play Ball, OR pick up stakes and set up OVER THERE. .?!?!?! Nope they will come and perch on top of your poles and net. No, you just think and move quickly, and light like those Apache did, Remember that if you clean up big time and have a Bostin Day, all that Gear, and all those Woodies don't half weigh up to quite a few Poundiges you know. And you will be even more knackered taking them all back to the mota........did 200 plus once on 2inch high rape popping out of a smattering of over night snow ! Only this high rise of green could be seen for miles, and I was the one shooting it. Ten to each plastic supermarket bags! Twenty like a Chinese Cooly on two hide poles on my right shoulder ( can you see it )........I shot sportingly all those pigeons.......those pigeons very nearly got their own back, and put me in the grave, my van was at least 800 yards away due to where this field was situated, and I made guite a mess going back and forth sinking deeper n deeper with carrying 40 pigeons each trip, couldn't do that now at 68. So the conclusion is :- go to SHOOT pigeons and don't take a load of unwanted **** with you Regards Freddy...........there I go agen sucking Gramars Chucky Eggs .

Hello there, the great decoy debate goes on and on, which are the Best and so on !!! Decoys are painted up good and realistic so that " YOU " the punter will take a look and say yes, I'll take a dozen of those, and off you go a very happy chappy, and so is the Gunshop Owner. Try these then !...... after several experiments with shooting colleagues , I cut 12 pieces of very WELL weathered half round Grey guttering, cut to 14 inches in length, two splogges of white paint either side based on where a pigeons Kneck Bars are, nothing else. 1974/5/6 ish. Good shells and a few full bodies were deployed 3/400 yards away, guite a few times we did this. Guess What, these 14 inch pieces of guttering cleaned up just as well on those days as the Decoys did Goes to show, when that pigeon is setting, and heading for the killing ground !......if he is not dead when he is in range at spotting that grey mass and two White Kneck Bars .....PACK UP....Bye your self some Golf Clubs and join a Sky Diving Club, as well. What do Pigeons see every day and don't take a bit of notice of ? YES, VEHICLES !!! Put your mota, In the middle of a stubble field, Any colour, put your decoys out or you old pieces of guttering open the door sit still and you will clean up .......all this has been tried and tested with very good results in the past. MOVEMENT is the key, not Camoflage as we all seem to think and stick to. Put up a net in front if you want But, just hold still, don't even smart you face up with camo paints and the such likes. You've ony got to get it off, and you look a right Plonka in the Pub after if youv'e had a good day, and left it on. Hello again...............In response to the last postings .....this is precisely what is happening?.....you work "buck shee" for any farmer, and the "pigeon shooter" will inevertably come up trumps and become his new "evil necessity"......if the farmer could get buck shee Gas Guns....believe me we would all be redundant !!!......in theory farmers don't even want us on their land "evil necessity" again......read into your postings and you "do" what you say you "don't".......Lets face it you shoot pigeons for "you", not the Farmers don't you ? NPPC, season it seems is back again ?.........With disgruntaled X-members who have taken as usualy happens, the opertunity to present themselves to the farmer and offer their own service on what is land John Shooter has gained for NPPC members to shoot..........John Shooter should "check" his X-member lists....go to the farms where X-members now shoot......and "blackmouth" the people concerned in side lining NPPC members shooting.............Two farms shot by me as an NPPC member in the last eight years have been lost in this way.

Stanley Duncan, would turn in his grave on reading some of these posts !.....Opposition to shooting and field sports is still rife, out there.....since 1954 to present day the likes of BASC(WAGBI),GA,SGA,Countryside Alliance,Etc,Etc,Etc....have been fighting our corner, against Governments and "Do Gooders", that want us all to go away and get lost !!!.....There are more RSPB members, than all our Field Sports associations put together....And this "If it fly's it die's, attitude does not go down at all well....BASC's Magazine is called "Shooting & Conservation" I think the "new kids" on the block should take heed of this, as they are only out there shooting and fishing, through the efforts of people like Stanley Duncan....The Handgun Folks were hung out to dry....Fox Hunting was next....Anglers have been pecked at....I have a disease called "Pigeon Shooting", and I want to keep doing it as long as I am able to get out in the field and squeeze a few shots off....I don't want to be just a clay buster because some faceless "****" in Parliament says I have to.....Pick yer Bunnies/Pigeons/Corvids/Cartridges/Etc,Etc,Etc.
