Ok, so my waterproof trousers have seen better days and are in need of replacement.
My question is: what do you use? And do you rate them?
I would like a hard waring pair that wont cost me the earth. im only really waring them for beating/shooting.
Many thanks

Well i wasnt exactly going to work, but still... it works.
I was heading to town to open a new bank account, and was in a bit of a hurry because the banks close at 12. Anyway, about 5 miles from town, we have a national trust park. and to one side is the main road. We were driving along here looking over at the woods and Mum thought she saw 3 deer. When i looked i knew something wasnt right! i looked again to see that infact there were 3 Alpacas running down a track heading straight for the main road! So mum pulled over and blocked the driveway. i started walking up the track and saw behind them was a loose horse! Mum grabbed a dog lead from the car and looped it round the horses neck and lead the horse back, and i herded the Alpacas! Anyway, by the time the horse and alpacas were closed back in, it was 12 and i had missed the bank! But i thought it was quite good fun to be honest and even if it is a bit different, you wont hear many excuses like it!

Went To My First Ever Clay Competition Today To Have A Watch And Chat To See What Its All About. It Was A Good Laugh And Was Good To Watch People And Know Where They Were Missing.
I Was At A Small Straw Bale Shoot Near Barrow, I Think It Was Higham But I'm Not 100% Sure.
Then As I Was Walking Round I Spotted Paul Simpson, Who When I Watched Didnt Miss One!

I am 16. I have suffered with tinnitus for as long as i can remember thinking about it. I always wear plugs in the field or at the clay ground because if i dont, it gets so bad that i have to wear them to bed to help ease the pain. Do yourselves a favour, wear protection.

There is no reason why you shouldnt apply for his own shotgun certificate . At his age he will not be allowed to buy his own gun or use it without supervision . He will be able to have a gun gifted to him and put on his certificate . I am sure he will feel more envolved if he has his own ticket and gun .Go for it . best of luck . Harnser .
You May Only Be Gifted The Shotgun When You Are 15. You May Only Buy The Gun And Ammunition Once You Are 17. Until He Has The Certificate He May Not Have Acces To The Cabinet. Once He Has The Certificate, He May Only Gain Acces When Under Direct Supervision.
Be On The Safe Side, Get The Lad A Certificate. You Will Only Have To Get Him One In A Few Years, So Whats The Harm In Getting It Now

Buy wheat from your local farmer and get cut maize in bulk from your local feed supplier. Mix the maize in 25% and the hens will be happy as larry!
Mark.
Careful Not To Feed Maize In "Summer" As It Will Put Fat On The Birds And When They Are In The Sun Leads To Them Over Heating And Eventually Dying.
I pay £6.95 for 20kgs Dodson & Horrell layers mash at local animal feed place and mine go nuts for it.Theres less wastage though when feeding pellets so this might be an option if you're not already.Something else to consider is to contact a commercial battery hen owner and see if they will sell you some. They have mash delivered by the pallet load and would imagine they pay peanuts for it.I would say though that given we have had a terrible wet summer-poultry feed prices will rise shortly.
Dodson And Horrell Is A Very Expensive Feed, Especially If You Want To Feed Alot Of Birds.
After The Wet Summer, Animal Feed Prices Will Go Down As There Will Be More Wheat Of A Lower Quality Going To Waste, Which Will Go Straight Into Animal And Poultry Feed!

I Buy Mine Direct From A Local Farmer, I Give Him Bags And Bins, And He Fills Them Up And Tells Me When They Are Ready To Collect. It Means I Get It Alot Cheaper.

Careful With The Soveriegns. They Are Very Fast And Once You Have Used Them You Will Find It Very Difficult To Go Back To A Slower Cartridge.
I Use RC1 Competition Line.

Have you made sure the lanber is steel shot proof and has less 1/2 chokes or less?
This is a very good point. I have a Lanber, an older model and it's not proofed for steel. You're looking for the Fleur-de-Lys (Google Images here) symbol stamped near/around the chambers.
Or 'Steel Shot' Like My Lanber Says.
