I have an 05 Rav4 turbo diesel D4-D, with 90k on the clock. On the weekend when out and about I had an issue with a lack of power and a drop in speed (even with foot to the floor) only for the power to pick up again. This happened quite a few times on Saturday.
I'm certainly no mechanic, so have no idea what the problem is, so any help would be great in diagnosing. I hoping it's not the turbo.
Only just seen this thread!!
Iv a 55 Rav4, and have been through the same thing - your problem is the SCV's (Suction Control Valves) on the fuel pump. There's 2 of them, and they are £90-£100 each, then garage time on top of that.

Iv had my HMR 10 years... and am on the verge of getting a .22
Not because I hate the HMR - I love the calibre, and rifle (CZ452 Varmint)! But there's an awful lot of rabbits that the HMR are total over-kill for.
Understand your reasons for HMR re. shy rabbits, and needing more range.
I think you'd miss your .22 if you get rid of it. And that's coming from someone as has never had a .22... Yet!!

Re. the chest pockets - maybe that's why Ridgeline only have one like that on the left chest, and a zipped pocket on the right...?
Not sure where your getting Riverside from - it's that listing I bought mine from... it looks identical to the picture, and the label says Glenwood.
If you Google Glenwood Smock, you see pictures of that smock... Try Riverside, you get nothing.

Bought one of these a week or two ago:
£99.95 free delivery. Very pleased with it so far!! Bargain price compared to the Ridgeline smocks at £200+ (don't get me wrong, I have a Ridgeline Pintail Smock - currently selling for £39.99!! - and love it!).
From what I can tell it's supposed to be an American made Ridgeline copy... but there's no 'Made in...' Label on it anywhere. The brand is Glenwood, and it's their version of Gore-tex. Named Glen-Tex.
Very well made, I'm chuffed to bits with it so far.
I'm a 38-40 inch chest... and after contacting seller about sizing, I bought a Medium. Fits perfectly once on, but L would be easier to actually pull on!

Ludicrous lumens has them, I think they're the TR range.
Cheers, just been on and had a look - TR. range. Look good!!

Don't get the t50 etc, the new ones with the green band (forget the name) are way better.
Interesting... got a link to them so we know what we are looking for?

I have a CZ452 with a 16" heavy varmint barrel. Yes it is heavy to carry around in the field. (My Magtech 7002 .22 semi auto is half the weight and a pleasure to carry). Do what I did and fit a sling, it spreads the load. What I like about the CZ 452 .17 is that for long range prone shots (Why else buy one?) it is such a stable gun platform with a Harris bi-pod. Right hand on the trigger and left hand supporting the butt, it does not move, when the trigger is squeezed. On windless days, shots out to 150 yards are guaranteed rabbit kills. I have a Rimfire Magic trigger kit on mine.
+1 for a sling!!
I used to have a couple hundred acres of prime arable ground I walked every week... CZ452 Varmint 20" barrel with the largest Harris bi-pod and the ASE UTRA mod. screwed onto the front... HEAVY!! It was no bother with a sling.

Ok thank you everyone for input
yet another question.
whats the difference between cz 455 synthetic silhouette and american .
Very little... Google "difference between CZ455 synthetic and silhouette".
One has a 16" barrel which mod. ready, along with other minor (almost un-noticable) changes.

Will be interested to hear any feedback on these - I like the look of them too.

Best item for lamping is not a Torch
its
Thermal for spotting
and Night vision for scope either dedicated or add-on
but if you have to use a torch the night master or its cheaper alternatives the T50 or T67
NV is getting cheaper... but not everyone can afford it yet.

Would a synthetic stock go on the Varmint? That would drop the weight a bit?
-
Wonder what colour the rabbits prefer...
-
But I like pink.....
Poofter, eh!?
;-)
You could always buy some red tipped ones... and leave them in the sun. They bleach pink eventually :-)
-
Can't find anybody who stocks the pink tips. I'd like to give them a try if they're better in the wind.........could use a felt tip pen I suppose, but would that have the same effect because they wouldn't be real pink tips, just another colour masquerading as pink tips?
Who cares the colour... it's what they do to rabbits/crows is all that matters!

Another +1 for Sealskinz.
I wear the UltraGrip gloves for work (I'm a shepherd). Keep you warm in all but the worst weather. Pretty thin so dexterity is kept, despite being a wool glove.
Can't rate them righly enough!
-
It's OK, not amazing. Worth the money I spent on it but double? I'm not sure
It's difficult... Depending what your after youl be spending £150+ replace it with a new one.
-
That sucks - do you like the scope?
Repair will be cheaper as replacing it.
-
Hawke scopes have a lifetime warranty if you're the first owner [and still have the receipt] - send it back for repair or replacement.
+1.
I have a Hawke 6-24x50 AO IR on my HMR and it's bang-on.
-
Hand help or scope mounted?
Ludicrous Lumens offer everything you'd want - at a far more reasonable price then NightMaster, without a loss in quality.

Not becessarily. Providing you have good reason, there's no reason to refuse anything you apply for. The restriction some forces may apply is if there's no history of your experience for some of the more powerful calibres because their responsibility towards the wider public may cause them to get fidgety of say you applied for a .308 on your first FAC application. Whilst I do know of two people who did just that, and ended up getting them, they were forced through DSC1 and mentoring conditions.
One good example of where there's no issue with having an HMR then looking for a variation to .222 or .223 is where your experience shows that the HMR is not the laser accurate round popularly reported especially when there's more than a puff of wind, and due to ammunition variations, which happens a lot with this round! It is not the ricochet avoidance tool it's often reported as (which is a bit of an internet myth), especially at range where velocity drops off. I have had plenty of "zingers" in HMR, especially with HP bullets. You can then apply for a CF stating good reason for the variation as more efficient vermin control in all conditions over longer ranges. The HMR is NOT a good long distance round. It's forte is from about 75 to about 140 yds. Anything anything further when there's more than a few mph of wind soon becomes a guessing game. Some people are better than others at guessing...I guess! Something like a .222 or .223 takes a lot of the guesswork out and ensure one shot one kill as they're no-where near as affected by wind and with frangible bullets will vaporise if striking anything solid at closer ranges especially. The variations in ammo can be negated by developing your own home loads, so you have more confidence in POI. Two or three missed shots with HMR = one round of CF ammunition so HMR is not the cheapest round going if that is considered. These are all good enough reasons for having CF either in place of or additional to HMR on your FAC.
In your shoes, I would apply for 22LR, HMR and 222/223. HMR you can give as the tool for calm conditions to 100-140 yds, 22LR for stealthy bunny control, and CF for longer range vermin control where accuracy is way more important. You'll should get AOLQ on them all anyway.
Very good post, sound advice.

hello, i do not understand why people do not like surefire/ultra fire/ unique fire recharge18650 batteries i have been using them for years and never had any problem. my last purchase 4 ultrafire for £6 ish work very well in my T38
As with the comment re. using old laptop batteries... the Ultrafire/Surefire are not protected. They could well last and work fine, of the could over-charge and go on fire.
-
They used to be of good quality but alas no more made in China I believe I had a motor cycle jacket lasted for twenty years but now they are substandard and over priced the problem is finding the genuine article and not Chinese ripoffs
It's a motorcycle jacket I have - granted, I wear it for good, so doesn't get much abuse apart for when I'm abit drunk... but it's still like new. The quality and construction is very good - not sure how it would last if I used it as a biker jacket though... It's not waxed either - but is waterproof (and it is, very!)
Deffo agree re. price - Barbour is abit steep... but its to keep the exclusivity of the brand.
-
Any of them... but stick to well known battery/electronic names (keep away from the Ultrafire, Surefire etc. ones). I use rechargable Panasonic's in my T20 red led and other torches.
Let me know how you get on with the T20 on the Photon as I'm saving up for one currently and was thinking the T20 would be big enough
What affordable waterproof jackets do you recommend?

Waterproof smock. It's a Ridgeline 'copy' and currently £99.95 delivered. I'm a shepherd by day, and have been putting it through its paces outdoor lambing since I got it. Bloody brilliant so far!! I bought a Medium, with hindsight I would've bought a Large, but it fits brilliant once on - just getting it on has a knack. Taking off is really easy! I wear a fleece jacket under it for warmth when out on ATV...
I have a Ridgeline Pintail Smock - they really are good, but for the Enduro or Monsoon smocks - I couldn't bring myself to spend to £200+ so this seemed a good compromise.
