Sorry Harry I wasn’t directing to only towards you, it’s more of an open question to consider ...

Ok... which would you rather - the UK govt invest in our own country, communities and economy by handing a contract worth half a billion to a UK company (AFTER we leave the EU and we are free to do so)...

Or let it out world wide, giving another company In another country half a billion £ which we will NEVER see again?

If our UK govt were morally true and had its own countries interest at heart - there would be no questions the money would stay here in the UK, supporting a UK company and feeding UK companies.

But we all know what the Westminster ideology is, and what will happen. Those who 'run' this country, will ruin it.

So once we have left the EU, would we pay a company an extra £50,000,000 of tax payers money to do something that we can get from Europe for £50,000,000 cheaper?

Will we start using “British” companies exclusively for everything? Most of them are owned by foreign companies anyway aren’t they?

That is not the point I was making, or the original comment I quoted - asking why it couldn't have been contracted to a country/company outside the EU.

Forgive my stupidity, but the blue passports are for after we leave the EU, so what difference does it make if they are made outside of the EU? Surely we can broker deals with anyone we want.

Not whilst we are still in the EU ?

We joined the club and paid the membership... we have to play by their rules right up to the day we leave.

The halo effect from torches is an age old problem.  Can you get it further back and closer to the scope?...to put the mod in the shade of the scope objective. ‘s what I do with the nv scopes.

It’s already illegal to shoot people and cats with guns; licensing airguns won’t change that.

It is however, much easier to remove such items from the populace once they’re registered. The powers that be however, are fully aware that it is only the law abiding who will license them, but couldn’t care less.

No, but it'll restrict how easy it is to just buy one in the first place.

The problem is all those already in ownership which will not be owned up to

:lol: That's true though I cant say I noticed, have to pay more attention in future. As an aside have a look on youtube "Mike Brown interview" how a professional does it.

    That man is a grade A ****.

He should be given MoM when he loses every game though ?

Alun Wyn Jones has to be the most unsporting bad loser I've ever seen. The only time he ever mentions the other team is when Wales have won. The rest of the time it is we, we I, I, rather than "the other team were better than us."

Yes! I noticed that at Murrayfield last year, he is a very poor loser. Not good for a captain IMO.

  8. England have been playing poorly (but winning) for a long time. A hiding was coming. It wasn't a shock result or a surprise performance - Scotland have beaten every team in the top 10 world rankings in the past 14-16 months, with the exception of South Africa (who they haven't played yet) and New Zealand - who they ran closer than anyone else could in the Autumn.

Petition signed, unfortunately I don't think it'll do much good, our sport is being harmed by idiots who have no regard for the law and it'll be the same idiots who flout it when they bring licencing in, what really gets me though is the damage being done to our sport by fellow shooters, take the cat shot with airgun thread for instance, people on there appearing to condone cat's getting shot as "it shouldn't be in my garden" this type of small minded attitude by fellow shooters is idiotic at best and is doing no end of harm to our sport, or take the recent BOP thread, to a lesser extent the let's bury our head in the sand and deny that BOP are ever unlawfully killed attitude is also harming our sport, if we don't stick together and follow the rules as they are now, no matter how much we disagree with them and also cindem those flouting the law, we are all actively contributing to the end of shooting sports in this country.

They played well. Underhill needs a public birching for giving away 3 points and a yellow card at that stage of the game, but Scotland were the better team on the day. I said before the game good luck Scotland and may the best team win and they did.

Not sure what else I should say. I didn't know banter had been banned. Lighten up mate.

England got lucky in that respect - countless penalties in the rucks, smothering the ball or playing it off their feet. There could well have been (and really should have been, it was relentless infringement) other yellows, and the yellow was the 2nd 'armless tackle' made in the game...

Then they should start by handing out proper sentences for misuse and for anyone caught with air guns not locked away when there are under 18s living in the house.

Licensing will do little to reduce the amount of crime as the handgun ban proved, will cost the tax payer and make shooting less accessible for youngsters. The firearms licensing can't even get the SGC and FAC application processed on time let alone process thousands of air rifle licenses.

    Signed the petition.

I agree it won't address the issues. But we all know that's not how politics/politicians work. More legislation and restrictions are easier to pass on to the law abiding and look meaningful to 'Joe Public' without ever actually sorting anything out.

I haven't signed the petition. I don't know if I can sign or not due to my location, but I believe it to be wrong for me to add my name to a petition which is solely a devolved issue and will not affect me. It's your fight with your government, not mine - we had ours and lost, even with a hefty petition. But I wish you all good luck.

My father in law has an old Mossberg 3 shot bolt action squirrelled away. It has the adjustable choke popular in the 1960s. Surprisingly it feels well put together.

The Mossberg is the same gun as the Norica ? although mine doesn't have the adjustable choke. Lovely little gun

  13. This makes me laugh. And I'm sorry for that, but

Many mocked Scotland when they pushed for licensing. And laughed when I said it would only be a matter of time before Westminster did the same. And this, under a Tory govt?...? I did warn you all.

I go against the grain as an Airgun, FAC and SGC owner though - my view is licensing should have been done 40 years ago. Doing it now is like shutting the door after the horse has bolted. Of course this hurts the law abiding, but instances involving air guns is all too common and something has to be done. The problem is there's far too many already in circulation.

Biggest draw back to the "modern shooter" is they were all 2&1/2". so range is limited , they were ideal in small areas , orchards and around buildings . Check the bolt locks up OK and that it extracts/ejects , the extractors do tend to wear and replacements are not available as are the spring case lifters . Another thing to check is that when you pull the bolt back it dose not "come out" with out the trigger being pulled,  if a little extra force is used . .

They were great little guns in their day but not built for an extended long life so will depend on how much use /abuse the one in question has had .

    The 3-shots are all 3" magnums ?

  15. Which is it - single shot, or 3 shot? I'm guessing at that price it's a single shot?

My now ex brother in law had/has a 3shot. I fell in love with it... so much so I hunted high and low for one of my own. Failed, but i did eventually find and buy a very VERY nice Norica 3shot from a fellow pigeonwatch member.

  16. Just saw this (don't normally come into this section). I'd need to go dig it out but dad's old air rifle, which my brother has, is an early Airsporter. I think it's a mk2 or possibly a 3...

When I was 11 (1995) my dad bought me and my brother a brand new BSA Airsporter .22, each, for Christmas. Much newer with the different breech opening. Still have it and will never get rid of it - it got me into shooting and has accounted for many rabbits and pigeons.

I was actually using it tonight nailing rats in the feed shed. Here she is

  17. The coverage is absolutely awful this time... it's just the general direction BBC is headed, steady decline in broadcasting quality.

I will defend the curling though, because I play it. There's  so much more to the game  than comes across on the TV but I do understand it can seem pretty boring to a casual observer.  You really need  to try the game for yourself. I also know Anna Sloan, I play at the Ice rink she learned at and have played in a competition with her before she went Professional so there's added interest there to see her do well.

The late nights are killing me, watching it. For me the curling and both the ski cross and board cross are the real highlights. I enjoy the biathlon - skiing/shooting, and the speed skating too.

  18. Aldi built a new store my side of town, last year. Been shopping there since August...

Initially I felt they didn't stock what I wanted and once a month I reverted back to Morrison's for a 'big shop'... by the year ended my thoughts changed and now I shop exclusively at Aldi. The fresh food/meat is as good, if not better, than any other supermarket. And like most stuff - the prepackaged things you'll either like or not. I've found most stuff to be very good. Fruit and veg definitely keeps longer. I've also found a few gems which I struggle to find in other stores

Strange game at times... England look in full control then go a bit loose and look lost, then back in full control again! Sharp at times, but will need to up their game an awful lot of they want to beat Ireland.

Wales... well they didn't deserve the losing bonus point IMO.

EDIT: Not sure why I have a quote to you bumpy in my message??? Can't seem to get rid of it either...

In any international, refereeing must be a nightmare because 'professional' infringements happen every second, but the ref has a responsibility to keep the game moving for the TV cameras. They can't keep stopping for ever little thing

Sadly that's not what I'm getting at... blatant forward passes missed or just ignored, questionable penalty's given, inconsistent interpretation at the breakdown or scrum and my pet hate - the huge variation in playing advantage.

There is no 'set standard'. Any ref can have an off day, or make the odd bad call - but some are sub standard.

As long as the games are fair and with no dodgy decisions, may the best team win. :good:

Sadly the decisions are very inconsistent and quite poor at critical times. It's a shame the ref standards are not quite where they should be.

But that isn't the fault of either team - things are fine unless you're supporting the ref ?

possibly but i still think scotland will turn them over. the french gave a lot of penalties away and just dont seem to be able to put a consistent side out. there hooker would get in most teams though to be fair quality player around the park

True. It'll be a nervous few days for me. I'm liking our lineup and the bench looks much better this time - except for Harris. Still confused why Bennet isn't involved though, not sure what Townsend is waiting for!
