A bigger threat at the moment is heroin and NPS`s

    +1 to that.

Price alcohol out of reach, they will move to drugs...

have you looked at the ssang Yong pickup, saw them at a game fare and was very tempted myself.

I daresay they are decent vehicles, but a very marmite design IMO... I can't make up my mind about them. But - for a 'budget' brand to come in and offer big boy 3.5t tow capacity Mitsubishi will need to pay attention.

Perhaps this is a cunning SNP plan to get their winos to migrate south and off their books?

It's a Labour policy which - rightly or wrongly - has cross party backing in Holyrood.

Thisis being enforced by ALL Scottish parties, not just the SNP.

The Tories in Westminster looked at setting minimum pricing not that long ago (under Cameron)... mark my words - it will eventually be rolled out across the whole of the UK, same as the smoking ban was.

Fine, if they stick to the 50p/unit I`ll be laughing as my fave, Pale Armadillo is 1.2 units and costs £1-49, which means it "should" drop to £1-10. Not holding my breath.

Nicky Fairbairn and Charles Kennedy BigBob?

    It's a MINIMUM pricing...

Prices will not drop if already above the new minimum.

Apparently the reason given was it was "A danger to the public"

It had supposedly moved back towards a built up area, so the danger to public safety had gone from 'moderate' to 'severe'.

The Lynx Trust are still in full blown denial. According to them on Friday it would only take a sheep every 5 or so weeks... but in their proposals for release at Kielder they said a Lynx would only kill 0.4 of a sheep a year.

Click on the black dot to the left of the topic name and it will take you to the first unread post (same as the old system).

Old one, I just hit the thread title and it took me to first new post.

Will bear this in mind though and try next time, so thanks.

  7. Before the update - when logged in (on mobile) if there's new posts on a thread I've previously read, when I click on that thread it took me to the first new post... now it just goes to post #1 and I've to make my own way to newest post/posts.

Site is fine otherwise, i just find that a little annoying

At what point did I say im an expert. But yes a captive animal that has never had to stalk or chase its prey ever has taken 7 already. Again im no expert.

At what point did I say you were an expert?

But yes - domesticated pets (dogs) kill sheep every year, yet we are told this lynx couldn't possibly do this because it's never had to hunt for its food...

Just passing on the news, and I've never known a fox kill more than one chicken. lol

I wasn't shooting the messenger lol my initial post was just to clarify where the NSA had gotten their image/info from.

There was a big cat running wild around here, back in 2005 (verified sighting by responding police officers, after it being phoned in). There were several such killed ewes found around the district over the course of a week. Throat ripped open with various claw marks on flanks where they had been pulled down. No ewes, which were found killed, had any signs of been eaten in any way.

A bucket load is a bit much for one lynx.. No need to get defensive. And oh if the government have had it checked then it must be true..

Why would the govt vet lie? If it had been an NSA paid vet, you'd have more grounds to question the finding.

Regardless of whether it's a lot, or not... the official finding is - after what is effectively a public inquiry (govt. paid post mortem) - the sheep were killed by Lynx/big cat.

I'm just getting a bit sick of all the internet experts on this subject.

Just read on a NSA (National Sheep Association) site that it had killed 7 sheep, showed a picture of them in a tractor bucket, true or not I don't know.

Easy for them to make it look like its happened. As you say though, is it true.. Who knows.

The sheep have been post mortem by a Govt. vet, on behalf of the Welsh Assembly.

The Govt. vets conclusion is the animals were killed by a Lynx or 'big cat'.

But hey... they've just made it look like a Lynx attack

  12. Our 09 plate rav 4 was 4wd and did over 40mpg all day long!

    +1 on the Rav4

I have a 55plate 4wd, so obviously a lot older than the age in the OP, but it is a great car. Without doubt if/when I change, I will be getting another.

It's a Toyota... what more needs to be said?

  13.

I didn't know there was such a thing, I would have enjoyed that. Hopefully not as silly busy as the gin festivals now are.

    Are you on Facebook?

Search Rum Festival. They tour all over the UK, did Glasgow early June and Edinburgh last weekend of September. The stands were quite informative and told the story behind their rums... there was a good turnout, comfortably busy without having to wait for samples/drinks

Nah, one championship doesn't make you great. Rosberg had an outstanding season but ultimately he only won because Hamilton suffered an engine failure in Malaysia. Had he not he would most likely have scored more than 5 points in the race and ended the season as champion again. Rosberg certainly won the championship but he didn't really beat Lewis.

I know. I was just playing Devil's advocate putting the argument which was put forward into perspective - stats never lie, and when all is said and done Rosberg beat 'one of the greats' in the same car...

Hamilton isn't doing anything different to what Vettel did at Red Bull and I've seen many discredit him due to his success being just because of how dominant the Red Bull was. Well, the exact same could be said of Hamilton and the Mercedes...

The sport is in a bad place IMO. Too few teams can actually compete for race wins - never mind titles. Prime example, 20 years ago Hill almost won in Hungary in an Arrows - an Arrows!! You had Benneton, Jordan and McLaren fighting for race wins against Williams and Ferrari... we have been lucky to have 2 teams fight for a title this year!
