My local Turkish barber burns the ear hair off. Tried it myself once with a lighter. Head hair is really flammable.
I have a firearms certificate

Expensive, those clays, don't want to break them...
Still beat a police firearms officer by 12 points!

Had a friend round to fire some warning shots relatively near some pesky clays. Didn't want my cocker pup to be worried (my older sprocker doesn't like bangs) but she was wagging her tail and chasing the unbroken clays when they fell. Had a whale of a time.
Not working her but glad she's not disturbed by the noise

I think with a relatively modern calibre, the rifles out there are all produced using modern manufacturing techniques to high tolerances and are all inherently accurate. I got my Weihrauch for a bargain price - if you can find a decent one second hand then go for it, otherwise the new Tikkas and CZ will be just as accurate.
-
I have a Weihrauch HW60J in HMR - it's a stunning little rifle. Having tried a mate's brand CZ, I've no doubt it's accurate but it doesn't have that quality feel to it. I'm told with a trigger kit they are sublime and maybe once worn in a little it would be smoother

All the bits on my present Landie are 30yrs old apart from items such as alternator, tyres, brake pads and calipers which on any working vehicle will require changing throughout it's life at some stage. In factor the rear axle is 35yrs old being one from a classic Range Rover which upgraded it to rear disc brakes. The only major replacement was an upgrade to a galvanised chassis...my choice...the old one was still quite serviceable but I was looking at the next 30yrs. I tell a lie the engine is 28yrs old being a 3.9 block V8 still with carbs. I did damage the passenger door and found a second hand replacement about the same age. Great motor and takes me everywhere I need to go with confidence.
So aside from new engine, chassis, rear axle and door it's all original? I retract my comment 😁

Might not help you but my mate cleans chainsaw bits by putting them in a small container of petrol then putting the container into the sonic bath which is filled with water

Let me know how your Jap motor is doing in 30 yrs time
Same thing as the original bits of your Trigger's broom Landie!

I don't know if it was the same pattern I downloaded but I tried sewing a single mask and failed miserably... what a generous offer of you
-
You'd need a printer capable of printing flexible filament otherwise you wouldn't have a decent fit around the mouth. FDM printing provides an ideal matrix for bacterial growth and sterilising such masks before use would be difficult (although I've read you can use gamma rays). There is a group on Facebook that discusses such items and a lot of people comment that hospitals won't accept them.
As said, if you have a cough already and for some reason feel you should leave isolation, then it will be marginally better than nothing but you'd be better off STAYING AT HOME

Just putting it out there if anyone in the area doesn't eat the vermin they shoot

Calling all hunters/pest control/animal control!
I volunteer at Sussex Falconry and due to the weather and Covid-19, they're struggling with their income. Is there anyone out there who hunts the following?
Rats, rabbit, pheasant, pigeons, squirel.
Nothing shot with a shot gun. It needs to be air rifle, single shot head shot or steal pellet. Issue with shotgun is we have to pick out all lead pellets as just one will poison the bird!
We also have a GoFundMe page, any form of donations welcome!
Thank you!!

Had the first mention of going home again today.
Tonight he said he didn't need any help getting himself ready for bed. Aside from taking his slippers off, taking his trousers off, making sure he took his jumper off before his shirt and then extricating him from the tangle when he tried taking both off at once, then putting his T-shirt on, getting his pyjama bottoms onto his feet, helping him into bed, putting the covers over and connecting his catheter night bag, he did pretty much all of it 😀

In that case I've got some bad news about spotted ****...
(in case you hadn't guessed, a nickname for "Richard", such as Turpin, Cheney or Van Dyke)

His dementia isn't actually all that bad for the most part. It's the physical aspects that are the most difficult.

I'll give it a go. It's more for meeting other carers really to get some tips and support. We're fortunate that money isn't much of an issue and we have the space to build him a custom accessible annexe on the side, although the council aren't overly keen.
Old flintlock. Any info?

For as long as I can remember, there has been this old flintlock musket at my father's house. I thought it had been stolen but found it buried in the garage as I was clearing it out.
It's pretty roughly made but can anyone shed any light on it?
The mechanism actually seems to work but the barrel isn't attached so will need brazing/welding
