  1. Thanks Scully. I'm the Seller of this shotgun and it really is a nice gun. It's a shame to see it go but need the space in the cab. Hopefuly it can go to a good home.
  2. Thames Valley here, Heard a lot of horror stories about long wait times but i put my FAC application in last week of January and had my Visit yesterday so just under 6 weeks so far. I've had a Shotgun Cert for about 8 years which may help. I asked the officer how long i can expect to wait to get the FAC through the post and he said he wasn't sure. Anyone else in Thames Valley know how long it takes from visit to arrival?
  3. For future reference, For boots go to your local Army surplus store. I picked up a set of second hand Desert tan Magnum Scorpion boots in immaculate condition (worn in but must have only been worn 10-12 times tops) for £40, Waterproof, Good grip and last forever. If they are good enough for soldiers they are good enough for trudging around a field and because they are Tan and not Black leather you dont look like a member of the local Neo Nazi collective or a Member of a Militia in them. They just look like standard work boots http://i.ebayimg.com/t/MAGNUM-SCORPION-BOOTS-DESERT-TAN-BIG-MANS-SIZE-14-BNIB-SAME-DAY-DISPACTH-/00/s/ODQ4WDk5OQ==/z/4DcAAOxy79VRfPuQ/$T2eC16FHJGoFFvz)YVo-BRfPuPl4)!~~60_57.JPG

  6. Thankyou for the feedback chaps, I will look at the suggested brands and see what fits best, It's good to see some of the cheaper ones holding up well too.
  7. I'm looking to get my first clay shooting vest as i seem to be shooting more regularly these days. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to go for and / or what to look out for? do the more expensive vests offer anything the cheaper vests do not? I would also love to hear any suggestions too. (sorry if this has been asked many times before, i have had a look at some of the older posts but still had some questions)
  8. Ah yes, were you there today as well? Does anyone know approx how much a gunsmiths would charge to make a wooden stock adjustable? i'm fairly handy (have built the odd car and motorbike etc) but i'm also very busy and a bit lazy lol
  9. Thanks chaps, I had just read that the rubber ones, do you just glue and / or tape them on?
  10. As some of you may have seen i'm fairly new to shooting, took the pump to my first 100 clay shoot today (big thanks to peteherts form here for the invite) and an instructor pointed out my stock comb was a little low effecting my view down the barrel, Using some card and imagination he made me a temporary fix, I'm now looking for a more solid solution, problem is the synthetic stock is hollow so i don't think i can make a cut into it to to make a raised piece. Any suggestions or am i better off getting a new stock?
  11. Just do what I do, I get he girlfriend involved, she came with me to a lesson and remembered all the tips the instructor gave me, now I take her clay shooting with me, she does the clays for me and corrects any bad habbits I keep going back to. Keeps our relationship sweet!
  12. Sorry if this has been covered before, I did a bit of rough shooting when i was younger but it was mostly me and a friend walking up the tree lines shooting at whatever broke out the tree's, Now i'm older and got into shooting Clay's i'm hoping to start getting some proper Pigeon shooting done. Problem i have is that i'm on my own and will be starting from scratch, I don't really want to pester a farmer for land then walk around not really knowing what i am doing, So i was wondering how anyone else started out? Did you find someone to coach you or is there any good reading material out there? Thankyou in advance
  13. I have often wondered this, What should come first? the kit or the permission? Seems like a shame to invest money into something i might not get the chance to ever actually use if i cant get land?
  14. Reminds me of the terrible series revolution on sky at the moment.
  15. Lol nice. I said something simular at longleats a few weeks ago!
  16. Cheers for the warm welcome guys. Good to see some locals too. I know stevenage very well, a miss spent youth driving brightly coloured modifed cara around the leisure parl and racing up and down the A1m. Ahh to be younger again. And this grooming you mention? Is this a catholic priest style grooming? Should I be afraid? I'm yet to venture to A1 grounds. I will have to let you know when i do visit.
  17. Thanks chaps. I will post a photo of my pump and over and under tomorrow if I can. Martin&oakley, were in south herta are you based if i may ask. I tell people I'm a berkhamstead boy but truth be told I'm unfortunatly Hemel Hempstead born and bread.
  18. Hello All, I'm the new guy round here. I'm based in south Herts and often found at Atkin Grant and Lang in Markyate shooting clays with my rather unorthidox Winchester 1300 Pump but I've been itching to getting back into shooting pidgins (which I am hoping is a dam sight cheaper then 40p a clay on the weekends!) Held my SGC since 2009 when I got into shooting the odd pigeon with a friend on a small bit of land he had rights to, but things change and shooting fell by the way side.....Fast forward to 2 months ago when the Other half and myself were on holiday in Breccon when we stopped off at Woodland park clay ground, Great group of guys there and had a fantastic time (but that is another story) So here I am, Getting back into the swing of things, re-learning my skills on the clays and (hopefully) getting into some pidgin shooting Oh and a bit about me, I'm 28 My Name is Justin, But most people call me Fielder. (Justin Bieber jokes will be responded to with violence!) When i'm not at the gym or shooting, I'm doing this: (yup, That's me)
