  1. Had mine for just over a year, it has never jammed no matter what I put through it! mines a carbon sporting so only a 3" chamber bought some cheap extended chokes off a chap from this site and it's a great gun..

It is my main workhorse gun (hide) and the only thing I'd say is it doesn't pattern well with some carts but you could say that about any gun, it's just trial and error.

I know it must be leaving a bad taste in your mouth but can you try another maxus as you might just have a problem gun? If your anywhere close to north wales your welcome to try mine although I'm shamed to say it's not the cleanest of examples!!!!!!!

  2. Top job as always, you and Db cover some miles in your quest for good sport and always end up with results some of us could only dream of..

Your a true ambassador of the pigeon shooting world....

  3. Great show, I bought a few items at a good price, no queuing and easy parking.

We arrived at 8am and left at 1.30pm - a five mile around trip for us.

Five mile Mr B............ five hours...... ah you were asleep most of the way though!!!😁

  4. Anyone visit the northern shooting show today..... long way for me but I was pleasantly surprised.... and I got some bargains...

    Good day all round...

PS, some of the guns were way overpriced... w&s .410 in poor condition for £99 when browning123 has a better than new one for sale for £120.......

  5. I've watched most of his stuff, he started just doing them for his own enjoyment, due to them being so informative he was offered a job teaching outdoor skills and now makes a humble living from it...

He's a very understated guy and if you watch some of his early stuff he goes on about how he used to do a lot of pigeon decoying and loved it but now he only shoots for his own food source.

I for one have been hit a few time while dropping a pigeon that's flying into the tree I'm standing under.....

  6. Made my own from bamboo and wire coat hangers and some gaffa tape..... 15 took me about an hour for the grand sum of..... 7 pound!!! Even bought white metal coat hangers as you can see them easily when your putting them out.... there's a thread on here on how to make them...

  7. Nice one mate :) a BMW 1 series as a shooting bus... Is there something we all don't know lol ;)

    Cheers mate,

When I pulled up at the gate and saw mud I thought.... Rear wheel drive with 280bhp.... Ahh sod it what's the worst that could happen!!

I'm on the look out for my next truck..

Cheers mate, yes the gun was only cheap but now it looks nearly new.... I like to challenge myself now and again and the .410 is perfect for that..

  8. Well done tedly..what carts/shot size fella?

Thanks mate, the carts were gamebore 18g 6's and the gun is full choke I was a little surprised that every pigeon was dead in the air as there such a hardy bird!

  9. Well done Tedly - very good shooting, especially with a 410!

Best we take the BMW next time we go shooting - my Jimny might get stuck again!!!

Where were you.............. Family stuff what an excuse!

I need a new shooting truck........ Now!

We could of had at least twenty pigeons between us....

  10. Well done , from your picture the carrions crows are in fact rooks.

Thanks fenboy your right there is a rook there, I'm lucky enough to shoot somewhere that has a multitude of different crows (if I can say that) I couldn't be bothered getting scratched to ******* trying to get them........ Pigeons are far more important as there food!

    Cheers Tedly

  11. Evening gents hope all is well.

I've noticed there's been a lack of .410 action of late so tonight I thought I'd pop down to a small wood on a new perm I've got, only problem is I've sold my shooting truck! Yes the Jimny has gone! And I'm going to miss it however times change and I need something a little bigger....

This looks a little out of place! Thank god I didn't get stuck....

Anyway I took a 3 shot bolt action Norica that I bought off a PW member a while ago, I've refinished the stock on this (my first attempt)which has changed the look of the gun completely.

Now I've been itching to get out with it however it usually gets left at home in favour of the 12 so today I thought sod it I'm giving it a go.....

As soon as I got to the wood I managed to get a few nice big carrion crows and a few jackdaws, only a few in the pic as I wasn't going to bother going through the brambles just for a pic (no commitment I know!)

The surprise was the pigeons, 8 in total with 7 picked for 8 shots! I admit 5 were flighting into the trees so not hard shots but the other 3 I was really pleased with... I even shot one just as it landed which got another bird up, I quickly grabbed the bolt and cycled another cart and got the second bird! I was that chuffed I texted my shooting buddy Mr B (Browning123) to see if that counts as a "left-right," No he texted back it's a "one-two"........ I better try harder next time!

    Cheers guys, Tedly

Ps, anyone know of a cheap 4x4 for sale, must be a 2005 and cheap!!!!!?????

  12. Sorry MrB for not posting on this.....

As MrB says this is a new perm for us and is covered in used carts....! Well I've been picking them up every time I've popped there over the last few weeks, my 6 year old daughter, Mr B and I have picked up at least 250 so far from two fields.... And people wonder why they lose perms!!!!!

Anyway we were both a bit rusty missing lots of easy shots, the bag should of been twice as big! Nothing came into the decoys (well one did right in front of Mr B but he was too busy on his phone) So there were some nice high flighting shots.

On another note, I'd seen another field which had pigeons feeding on it, at least 500 plus with strong flight lines coming into it.. Unfortunately I had work commitments but I did manage to drive past a few times just to check they were still feeding on it, popped there last Thursday and there were pigeons everywhere, great I thought Mr B and I were on for Friday.......

Well we bl@@dy turned up on Friday morning to find the farmer spraying the field....... Gutted! Not a pigeon in sight....

  13. Evening gents, I hope everyone's had a good Easter weekend...

I've not been posting much of late due to work commitments, however I have kept my eye in and it looks like everyone's been very busy with lots of great pic's.

Had some good news at the start of the month with a new perm, my good friend Browning123 has already posted about this perm on this section titled "hard going." it's a great opportunity to shoot on this perm and great that I was approached to come and do the pest control on the estate as that's never happend to me before.....!

Right today Mr B and I decided to go and attempt to knock some clays out of the air, well we shot like a pair of plonkers (sorry Mr B) anyway it was such a nice day I decided that once back home I'd sort some housework out and then go for a short walk...

The perm I popped to is only two minutes from my house so off I went with my Winchester 101 and a pocket full of carts, these were joker 32g 5's which Mr B got for me very cheap.... They were cheaper than the pigeon power 29g 6's that I normally use so I was looking forward to testing them out..

The perm itself has a thin wood which is about 3/4 of a mile long and about 60m wide, it's good for pigeons and squirrels normally, so off I plodded walking the long way around the fields so I could start at the far end of the wood with the wind blowing towards me, within two minutes of being in the wood about 15 pigeons got off the floor about 30 yards in front of me, some made the mistake of circling about above me, that was one down... The shot must of scared some further down the wood which came my way, the next shot was a cracking high bird flying well above the wood, I think I'll be investing in some more of these carts ready for the game season.....

As I got to the end of the wood I could hear the unmistakable sound of a jay..... Now we all know these are very sly birds (beautiful but sly) which see you coming from a long way off... Well not this one! He got up out of the hedge about 25 yards ahead of me, down he went..... Then his partner in crime got up and down he went too..... (He landed in the middle of the brambles/hedge and although I tried I couldn't get to him)

So that was four for four... I like this 101 and joker cart combo...

  14. Had one as a company car, 3.0 twin turbo d, I did over 100k in 2 years, sorry to say this but I'm glad it wasn't my own car as it spent far too much time in the garage being repaired.... Unlike the Audi a6 3.0 d I had before it... The a6 did 210k without one engine fault.....
