  1. 26th of this month BBC reported a three car smash with one of the drivers as having minor injuries, and massive tailbacks in south wales... So three cars smashed up and one person injured.... Why because of dogs on the carriageway one of which was killed...!

I travel along the a55 a lot through the night and early hours due to my job, at 3am believe it or not it's busy due to the port traffic with hundreds of hgv's and vans trying to make up time....

I wonder if we would have such a debate if one of the officers were killed while trying to catch a dog on the carriageway....

I'm not be any means condoning what they did but in my eyes human life is more important than a dogs....

  2. Sounds like a great few hours, I also love this type of shooting, sometimes I leave all my kit in the truck and just take two floaters with two birds (always keep a few in the garage freezer) just to get the flighting birds interested... Don't shoot big numbers this way but most shots are a challenge so it becomes addictive...

    Keep it up

  3. A shooting friend of mine who's also a police officer locked up one of these delightful people not so long ago after he was stopped for a broken tail light while on his way to holyhead port to go back to Ireland...

He had been wanted for years on a court warrent for failing to attend court for hare coursing! Also had no licence or insurance! So not only did he have his car taken off him he was also detained all night ready for his trip back down south in the morning to attend court! My mate said he was very polite, saying "it wasn't me sir, why would I lie!" All the way to the nick......

  5. Yes mate, .22 bsa superstar, I pestered my dad for months...... When I got the box on Christmas morning he'd written meteor on the box just so he could see my face! ***!! I've probably shot more with that rifle than any other gun... I will restore it this year and post the pics of it as its the only possession in my life that's been with me for so long......

  6. Fair do's U that gun does some shooting.... Used to shoot these when I was a kid on the farm I worked on when I was twelve! Got 50p a bird off the farmers wife....

Great days and I still own the bsa superstar to this day! A Christmas present off the folks, one day I'll restore it and give it to my son....

  7. I always enjoy reading the HMR threads....

    I have a Annie 1517 hmr, I also have a .22 and a .222 which I hardly use and a slot for a WMR which I haven't filled yet....

For me it's a perfect rabbiting rifle, yes it's no good in windy conditions but on a good day it's great... All the rabbits I shoot go in the food chain so are head shot, I feel confident at taking head shots at sensible ranges 100-150 with my scope set on 8x....

As already said by others there is a place for this rifle, it's a tool and if used correctly a bloody good one..

  8. great shot.... I was brought up on a farm and used to see the damage crows did to new born lambs eyes if the ewe was not on the ball! I could happily shoot crows all day long...... good shooting on the rat too, another pest I really dislike....
