'Over-kill'. I hear that a lot. As long as it is humane and not dangerous ie a huge bullet without the appropriate back stop then there IS no problem. I use 6.5mm 140g bullets to control rabbits and crows on ground I can walk over rabbits but have moorland hills as back stops. Vermin gets controlled. Happy days.

The guy before I owned it was shooting Norma factory loads with 75g Vmax and said it was crazy accurate hence why I loaded my own rounds with 75g Vmax.

2 weeks ago during the snow I christened my 243 with this very nice looking dog fox. The 75g Vmax surprised me be not exiting when I shot the fox in the shoulder at only 80 yards approximately. This is a lovely rifle. I owned this from new before Johnny and will vouch for it. I shot lots of rabbits with it out to 500 yards. Johnny is a genuine guy and will be a pleasure to deal with.

The 69's would be better in the wind providing the 69 has a proportionately higher BC (it should have unless its a poorly designed bullet). The 69's will be going slower but the higher BC will allow more speed retention and resistance to drift. The further you shoot the more the difference will become apparent. At 300 yards the difference will be small but at 400-500 yards and in stronger winds I'm always a believer in shooting big bullets.

What's your load in 140 Amax and which barrel are you running?

That seems to be a good velocity for those 123's. mine run well at 2900 with 37.5g RL15 3 thou off the lands. Lovely connection on that crow. Good shot.
