I had suffered from depression for a few years. When I applied for a licence I was told I had to be clear of depression for 3 years. After the 3 years I got my licence no problem.

Hi, I got my licence a few years ago.

Glasgow police would not processe the "air gun licence" until they had heard back from the doctors. I was told by the police that " if they do not get a report back from the doctors they cannot continue with the application and it will be refused. I have to chase up my medical report because the doctors never received the letter from the police. The police siad they have to hear back from the doctor to know that you are fit to get/hold a licence. I did not have anything to pay for the medical report.

What do you think my chances are for reaplying again. The reason the police were not happy was - I had low moods and anxiety. THe anxiety was caused by the anti depressants and is a side effect off the pills. My doctor suports my application fully.

it's not convictions as they are no longer on the police's computers.

No. longer depressed. The doctor also told the police was no longer depressed and could see no reason for me not getting a licence. I was told by the firearms dep that I had to tell the guy that ran the gun club that I was going to be refused a licence. And if the guy that ran the gun club was ok with it, I could go back to the gun club. is this right? I

All I know is that I feel better about life and off anti depressants.

I go clay pigeon shooting. My doctor told me to take up a sport to try and get out of my depression. Yes I have chickens.

in the end I had to withdraw my application. The police were not happy that I had been depressed for so long (10 years) Even though the doctor gave me the all clear. Been told I have to wait 2 years before appying again.

The police are told me I can just use the club gun and don't need to own a gun. Even though I go to clay club every week when it's on. My doctor has told me there is nothing on my medical records to stop me getting a licence. She has been giving the police good reports about me.

Yes I did put the depression on the forms. There is no point in hiding it.

have you suffered from any medical conditions? I put yes I suffer from depression. Been off meds for a couple of years. I never put the slight anxiety down. Have you ever received treatment for depression or any other kind of mental health condition- I put yes.

I suffered from depression. the side effects of the pills caused very slight anxiety. Should I have put that down on the forms?

No I put everything down on the forms. was depressed for about 10 years. I told them what caused the depression. My doctor slaso gave me the all clear. When the police come and interview you about your licence, do the test your mental state or try to upset you? When they came to vist, they were not very nice to me. is this a test?

I told the police that a conviction I had caused my depression. have I messed up by saying that? yes-I was treated for depression. No. Why?
