  1. Puppies will be puppies. You need to socialise them with other dogs, especially dogs that will be in the same household. I know you may feel stressed with them playing but just leave them too it unless they're knocking stuff over. I help breed GSDs with my girlfriends grandparents, they're show dogs and protection dogs but still all the same rules with pups. They have 1 puppy at the moment, and 6 other dogs in the house with them, as well as 4 in the kennels out back. If you do not socialise dogs at a young age, you can end up running into massive problems. Best idea in my opinion, is just to leave them to it. They'll get bored after a while and then just lie down and chill. If they're getting to rowdy, don't shout, but in a very commanding voice tell them to stop. They'll quickly learn, after all they're intelligent dogs.
  2. I see, was a bit creeped out there. Thanks again for the advice.
  3. Thanks very much. By the winky face, do you know me or something? Anyway thanks again for the advice.
  4. Seems to be the usual for Central Scotland at the moment, a friend waiting 6 months for a coterminous grant/renewal (Had FAC, wanted coterminous, but prieviously had his SGC years ago) and they were the same, checked everything and anything, referees, doctors. Very thorough and by the book. It's a shame about the FEO's because once they've been doing it for a few years you get to know them and vice versa and it makes life a bit easier, and their job abit easier too.
  5. Or I could ask for some advice from someone who's just had his FEO (Oh and btw, we don't have an "FEO" as such, it's on the beat coppers) visit to see what they said, so I can make sure I have most things in order before my visit. Oh that seems too much like a good idea.
  6. And yet, the security of them both is described in the same document, at the same time. (Purely regarding security) And yes, I have just double checked this.
  7. I've read the guidelines, which state the minimum, however each case is different. Myself and Hamish are from roughly the same area, so thought it would be a good idea to ask him. Whats your problem here? Seem to be very anti FAC, all because I asked a question.
  8. It's still going to be the minimum security. So if I know that I need a certain thing, like CCTV or whatever, I know I need to go and do that? Quite a reasonable question really.
  9. This is the sort of things I would like to know. Anybody else who is in my position, or works away for a few weeks or whatever, please chip in. Sorry to steal your thread Hamish.
  10. Hi Hamish, quick question for you. What security do you have currently? I'm applying for my FAC in the next few weeks and just wondering what other people who work away from home have? I work offshore and wanted a guess if there should be any extra security I should apply before applying for my FAC
  11. Not sure you're understanding what I'm saying. The guy who done the visit isn't an FEO. He is just a normal police man. There are no more dedicated FEOs so they are using untrained policemen in their place. Untrained as in, not specifically trained in the firearms act etc.
  12. There are no dedicated FEO's in my area now. It's always a on the beat bobby.. That's why I said they should be FEO's instead of bobbies...
  13. Definitely. At least if they're not shooters, they should be polished up as an FEO instead of the on the beat bobbies we have. My mate got his renewal visit the other week, and the first thing he asked was 'so, how long you been doing this? The bobbies reply was 'this is my first time'... And they're in charge of deciding if the cabinet and the suitability of the home is good enough?? Ridiculous. Paid off our old FEO who my father and said mate knew extremely well, in fact he would shoot with with them in the 80s, to instead send a bobby round.
  14. Dad ran his own range in central Scotland. Used to take me down and chase me with his stapler for the targets. Then I got to shoot a bit and finally out on the ground after rabbits. Took my first rabbit with a 10/22 ruger, still in love with the gun to this day. Although I prefer the CZ 452 a bit more now.
