Just a quick note on probably an already covered subject but here we go.
Just to hammer home a often mentioned subject re: spending the time (and unfortunately expense) of trying a variety of cartridges to find the one your rifle likes here is my 2 cents.
My Tikka T3X in .22-250 straight out of the box performed well enough with the variety of cartridges, both HV ballistic tips, soft points etc, mostly the 55g variety, however I just discovered that it really like Hornady Varmint X 50g. Three five shot groups under 1/4 inch at 100 yards. And I am at best described as an average shooter. I just could not belive what it was doing with those Pills.!
Although it had been a lot of time and expense to get their it really is true that there is no alternative to trying a lot of different cartridges! Now I need to go down the rabbit hole which is self loads!
