I would say Norma for factory ammo, the 120gr ballistic tip and 140gr partition both shoot very well in my 6.5x55.
Plus 1 on the 120 gr. BT Norma I've used those on numerous occasions in a Sako 85 6.5 X 55 very sound all singing all dancing, never had a need to change, had the odd one go ballistic so to speak, but they do the job in hand quite well
I also used the 165 gr, depending on your rifle weight as they appear to have a little bit more kick than the 120

My son started with a baikal side by side brand new hammer gun in 16 gauge, nearly white beech type of stock, he used it for pigeon shooting to good effect.
I picked up some 3 shot cartridges from France in a bright green case,
They turned out to be fantastic wildfowling shells, I've many happy memories of him pulling down some very tall wigeon with that gun,
Pre bismuth / steel by many years
He still now shoots his second new gun a trusty Winchester 101 in 20 bore that he's had for donkeys years, he reckons if it ain't broke don't try and mend it
Me I've closed my hands over one two more than that - like you do.

Alpacas
Waiting out for rabbits with 22 rimmy few weeks ago in a field shared with a dozen alpacas, dog fox comes out from a very thck hedge 200 yds away from me and ten yards from the alpacas and has the usual stretch and a scratch bit of sunbath promptly walked through the middle of the alpacas who didn't turn a hair couldn't care a less about the fox, going on what they say alpacas are up for giving the fox a set to, pretty disappointed
Went back to the exact some place two nights later waiting for the Charlie with .222 , the alpacas are right up the other end of the valley, out pops mr Reynard does his usual stretch routine and has a sit down and wallop he's a goner
Before I could go down to clear up, the alpacas had come straight down the valley straight to the fox and giving it a right old kicking
When I walked down to pick the Carcase up they all just stood around it staring at it, never seen any other animal act like an alpaca, I think they live on a different planet

Out stalking Sunday afternoon with the .222 into the evening after a Muntie, just before dusk a good sized male cub come straight up the ride with a moorhen chick, that was its last meal.
No signs of fox activity anywhere else no laid grass or droppings, male Cubs do seem to push out the boundaries more than the females, must be a man thing
For the age of the Cubs they are very switched on when weaned, I recently watched a whole family Mr, Mrs a vixen follower and three well on Cubs were hunting a neighbours field of freshly cut hay picking up mice and voles in unison in an hour they had caught a good quantity, amazingly they worked like a triangular spearhead equal distances apart and didn't miss a single piece of ground in two large fields

Hello guys
My introduction to the site
Started off living next to a farm as a young lad straight into ferreting, airguns, then moved on to shotguns, pigeon shooting, wildfowling then naturally on to rifles rabbiting, foxes and my passion deer stalking.
Some how find the time still to do everything I run a dozen ferrets, gun dogs and fly fish, my son also loves his shooting which is great

I've still got a single barrel .410 and a o/u in the same calibre, the single is the one I reach for when out ferreting, it's a lovely little handy piece of kit of Spanish origin I think.
Also had a number of Winchester cooe, BSA and a single 10 bore bolt action ( strangled choke )pass through my hands over the years that have given a good and reliable service
Having a single shot does ensure you've got your aim right,
You know you've made into the big time when you've got a 410 that takes 3" shells instead of 2 or 2 1/2 "
Extends your range by at least 2 foot 😃😃😃
