Ok, .177 to start with, not sure about pellet yet until I run them through some groups (allegedly the gun likes air arms diablo), yes as low to the barrel as its easier to zero for accuracy isn't it? This chairgun malarky mate, I have no idea what you're on about, I'm a newbie remember, lol..deffo a Hawke though yeah?

Obviously to start I'll be at the range and doing some plinking and simply getting used to airgun shooting before I go out on a perm, once I get one that is but luckily I know someone that has horses so I can use their field when horses are elsewhere, so definitely rabbiting and getting used to the various ranges that comes with hunting.

Ok so first thing you need to know is. .

    What cal .?

And which pellet .type  (Roughly .ie heavy,  light or wad cutter .)

And how do you want to mount it .lower as poss (say for ratting ) or higher is ok .

You say you want it light ? And i guess a bit shorter.

So a 32 -44 mm lens would mean you can mount it lower and save weight and it should be a bit shorter than say a 50 mm .

    Id look at a hawke 2-7 x 32

    Or a 3-9 x40

Look at the ret options and dial them into chairgun and figure out if they will work with you pellet choice .and scope height .

Every scope ive ever bought has had this worked out before i parted with money .

What I will ask your advice though is regarding a scope, is it easier to set up with an AO scope, like eye relief etc, and getting a wider field of view like a 44mm or 50 objective?

  3. Hi, Does anyone own an Air Arms S510 TDR in this forum, reviews on YT seem excellent but unsure of their bias, owner reviews cannot be beaten?

If so, can you please let me know what it's like, and what scope you use, If I purchase the gun I'd like to use a lightweight scope to keep in with the theme of the gun itself.

Been looking into the Nikko Sterling Mountmaster series, so gonna carry on with some reviews now.:good:

  4. Hey all, good day to you. I need a small lightweight scope to go on a AA S510 TDR to stay in theme with the weight of the gun, dont want to pay a fortune something like below or an equivalent would be ok. And yes for all of you that have seen my previous posts I am still getting the FX and that already comes with an Airmax 30SF so just need one for the lighter rifle, any suggestions would be great, thanks.

I have an Impact .25 FAC and what a superb piece of kit, love it love it love it.

I have a single shot loader for mine but they are not available from FX, mine is a 3d printed one made by a friend on another forum. It is possible that the club you went to does have a policy of single shot rifles and part of that idea is that you have to load for each shot, therefore not having the advantage of getting in the zone with multi shot which will allow you concentrate on the target without the interruption of having to load for each shot...................... join another club.

If I could afford one, I would have a sub 12 Impact as well but the old pension will not run that far ?

Enjoy your new gun and stick to JSB pellets and you will not go far wrong after all, FX only use JSB in all their tests and their own branded pellets are JSB Exact I believe.

Hey Phil, just a few developments have occurred since, I opted out of the Impact and have now ordered a Crown

I've an R10 Mk1 that is completely original i.e. not "worked on", I've had it from new and never had a problem with it. What location are you?

I nearly went for the firefly version of the newer r-10 se, very nice to shoot too, I shot both that and a ultimate sporter. really like the S510 TDR

The only thing stopped me going for the s510 us, was the 60+ shot count, now users do say it is closer to 70, however. Also been looking at the really cool looking s510 tdr, what a cool looking gun.

Air Arms are quoting this gun to 40 shots per fill in .22 and .177, watch this review and this guys has achieved over 80, how can AA oversee the amount like that?

hello, that is why i said get a BSA R10  MK 1 or MK 2 CAN GET S/H FROM £500 to new around £650 £700 / 180 plus shots per fill

I guess id be worried if anything went wrong as both those versions had their issues, at least with a new gun I get a lifetime warranty and parts and about totally free as well if anything does go wrong.

And funny how you should say that as I'd love to get the s510 ultimate sporter if and when funds allow.

I'll warn you now though pal when you post a pic of a 40 yard grouping I'll be the first to say my £300 airarms s400 can match that. :good:

Funny you say that I'm about to pull the trigger on either the 400 or the 410, I cannot wait a month without a gun or I might just say #### it and get the one I really loved shooting, the s510 ultimate sporter, absolutely loved shooting it.

On a serious note I do look forward to seeing how you get on with it, I posted some pictures of my steel homeloads I did recently, obviously a lot different but the principle is the same, practice makes perfect and I listened to some great advice given to me. If you do pull off a few 5p groups at 40 or 50 yards early on no doubt some will be the gun but most would be down to you as it's you who's pulling the trigger. :good:

    I'll definitely be trying hard.

Followed this with interest and I don't believe you've had it bad compared to some threads I have read, I'm sure you yourself would admit saying as a newbie, "only this gun is gonna be 100% more accurate than any other pcp air rifle out there" to seasoned shooters deserves a bit of stick. Like you say, your money your choice but with that kind of pricetag I hope you get heat seeking pellets thrown in. :good:

I didn't mean 100% MORE, what I meant was according to pro reviewers this gun is the most accurate they've shot, I worded it wrong, I work in a prison, not an English grammar teacher, not heat seeking but I do get 3 tins x500 of my choosing, plus bipod at £79 and BSA bag which is priced at £59 and along with the deal for the scope and air bottle too, cannot be more chuffed. Look out for the 50 yd groups I'll post with my very first shots with the rifle, regardless of how new I am, it'll no doubt be the gun. All the gear and no idea, but....I will learn and I have excellent eyes and a steady hand, so hopefully it won't be long before I bag my first pests.

That blue is so sweet but I resisted temptation and went with the more camo option of the Forest Green

Enjoy your purchase, I'd also be interested in how it performs. Some pictures and some shooting videos wouldn't go a miss either :good: I'd like to see it in action.

    I only have 1 air rifle an AA S410 .22 sub 12flb.

I have 2 air pistols (thinking of making it 3) we shoot practical air pistol at my club.

I have various rimfire and fullbore:good: (not sure where this will stop)

yeah, I have thought about a scope cam when I get a perm and I can shoot well, and at night really like the NiteSite systems for ratting and rabbits after dark

This is a 5 shot group at 40 yds with my .177 bsa ultra. Pretty typical when the wind drops and my eye is in .i shot this standing leaning against my van .

This is the accuracy your looking for from your pcp.

that is sweet mate fair do's, especially leaning against something instead of benching

Just read all of this and feeling a little inferior now with my two daystates

I thought they were ok till now.

Good luck with the new gun.

I was so close to picking the pulsar myself, why do you have 2 guns, I feel I had some grief on here for thinking of getting 2 myself?

    Fair enough .

Your choice of sub 12. Fx .crown is a great idea if you do decide to take it up to fac .as its obviously  very suited to higher power..im sure airfective will be able to do the conversion .or you maybe able to do it your self later on when the tickets are all in place .

Good luck with it .and its a far better choice of gun than any daystate imo.at any power level .

Please feel free once you have it to share your thoughts and experience  with pw. Or with me at least .as id be very interested to see how it goes .

    Cheers. Stu.

    Deffo buddy, will do
