  1. Sorry to be a late reply, I don't post here frequently. My experience seems to be in line with the length s of time listed by Axe. Unfortunately I sometimes had problems with premature freezer burn. No doubt it was due to the process by which I wrapped my meats. I used to wrap them all in plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. Invariably a sharply pointed bone either at the wing or where the foot was cut off would make a small puncture allowing air in. I'm sure I could have alleviated those problems if I had wrapped the meat with several more layers of plastic wrap. I have also stored birds the size of a small duck and smaller in freezer bags filled with water. That worked well but was bulky and I ended up with a bunch of space robbing chunks of ice in my freezers. Then I got a vacuum sealer. That is the way to go and I highly recommend one that is of good quality. Claims of freshness for up to three years are stated. If you have not considered one and you store game or any other food for long periods I think you should take a look at a vacuum sealer. Skip
  2. Very well done. In less than two weeks snipe season will be open here. I hope to be able to stick a few in my game bag also. Skip
  3. The vast majority of turkey and waterfowl hunters use repeaters in the states and that's likely to not change anytime soon. For people that hunt in the uplands I imagine what is chosen is based more on budget than anything else. I know more people that shoot doubles or O/Us than repeaters and I think on most internet forums you will see a similar trend. Since WWII we Americans have wanted more. We wanted guns that held more cartridges, and we wanted cartridges that held more shot. That's why for the most part repeaters are hell for stout and swing like a 2x4. They had to first handle 3" cartridges and now 3 1/2". Except for people shooting steel shot that trend has switched somewhat. There is a renewed interest in double guns including pre-WWII American, British, and European guns and more new doubles and O/Us are available now than ever before. Trends swing back and forth and right now it is swinging away from pumps and autos in the U.S.
  4. Having lived here in Florida for better than forty years I have made more than a few trips to the BPS stores in Orlando and Destin. There's a third one In Atlanta that is just as close to me as the Orlando store. I feel like I am surrounded by them. I buy more at Bass Pro for fishing than hunting but there is so much stuff it takes about eight laps to see everything. Enjoy your trip.
  5. Hello, it looks like I joined at the same time as quite a few other people I recognize from the U.S. Do any of you guys around here shoot snipe?
