  1. Most semi auto’s use the excess gas from the previous fired cartridge to cycle the next cartridge into the chamber, because of this the gas is dirty and can have a powered etc that will settle on the mechanism. The Benelli uses inertia, so it uses the recoil from the previous cartridge to cycle the next load. Because all of the gas goes down the barrel you get less carbon and **** build up in the gun. In theory the recoil reduction is better in the Benelli because of the inertia system it uses. I have a Hatsan Luxano, £395 brand new 3 year warranty, and a friend who has a Benelli around £1,000 I have shot both guns with the same cartridges and I cannot tell much difference between them. My Hatsan will cycle just as fast as the his Benelli, but mine does take a bit longer to clean as it’s gas driven. I do hope that helps.
  2. If i had to go for one or the other it would be the benelli every time, it's inertia driven unlike all other that are gas driven.
  3. Thanks all for the comments. Could anyone recommend me some decent optics for the .22 and the .17 HMR I have been looking on the net but it’s amazing how much choice you have. Recently I think the information available on this site is more valuable and accurate than the local gun shop. Thanks all.
  4. Thanks m8. I do like the CZ based on the price, really good value considering. The eley ammo is ok for me as I have a friend who works for eley so can get a good discount, I already get a lot of eley misprints at silly low prices. Thanks
  5. Hey all, I am submitting my FAC at the moment I have been looking at the best rifles. I love the look of the CZ Varmint but they do not seam to do a Left handed edition, the only ones are the American and Delux. I will not necessarily go for both but I am going to have both put onto the FAC. The 22 is my favourite at the moment purely on the price of ammo. Could anyone please recommend a good left handed 22LR and 17HMR new only please. Thanks all.
  6. What quad is that m8, very very nice! Is it 4x4?
  7. thanks all, i am now sorted...
  8. Thanks m8. I am assuming that the one on the side of the scope is for up and down and the one on the top is for left / right? Thanks again.
  9. Hey all, I have been trying to setup my scope, at about 20 yards I am grouping vertically where I wanted, but horizontally I am always shooting to the left of the target. I setup the gun on my Workmate, I know not the best thing but it is very stable and allowed me to eliminate shake from the shooting. On my scope, if I am shooting to the left, do I need to turn the dial to the right or to the left to zero in? I have never had to zero a rifle before as the shop has always done it for me, but I cant get over to them for a few weeks so I need to do it myself. I hope this makes sense. Thanks all.
  10. Very odd, I have not had a single jam caused by the gun, I did one have a cart that got stuck when ejecting, but when I looked at the end it was malformed and that was the only one. I use 65mm hull carts, I can even cycle the 21g comp x all day long no problems.
  11. I have been reading up on what I can and cannot shoot, I am happy I can now tell the difference between dove etc, however the difference between ferrel and wood pigeon is a lot harder, on the computer anyway.
  12. Hey all, I have never gone pigeon bashing before so I am unsure what to expect, I am going with a friend who has done it before but I am wondering if there is anything special I have to do? I have insurance from the CPSA, I have been doing clays for a long time so I am confident that I can kill the bird in a humane way. Do I need it in writing from the land owner that it is ok to shoot on his land, or is a verbal agreement ok? I will be using a shotgun not a rifle. One other thing I am wondering, the farmers field is corn and he is getting hit very very hard by the pigeons atm. Can I eat the pigeons or is their only a certain breed you can eat, I have come to the conclusion that woodies are ok but ferrel are not, but what is the difference and how to tell? Thanks all.
  13. Very nice m8, you got any pictures? I have the Escort Luxano http://www.hatsan.com.tr/new_escort_luxano.asp Absolutely bloody brilliant gun I think it is the best gun I have ever purchased. I take it clay shooting, I often go with my farther and we both use the same gun, so we can get threw 200+ carts in one session a few times a week, in all of the time we have used it not once have I ever had a jam or misfire, and it’s so easy to take apart once you get used to it. I paid £375 for mine, brand new with the twin barrels, 28†and 26†very understated gun. Great buy!
  14. It’s funny I have the same problem, I have a 30†Lanber deluxe, and also a Hatsan Luxono now the Lanber cost me £500 used and the Escort £375 brand new, I shoot better faster and have more fun with the escort, so much so I am going to sell the Lanber and get the cheep Escort for rough shooting. The Escort is 28†so equivalent to an O/U 30†A gun is a personal thing, you like what you like and you shoot best with whatever gun you have more fun with, I don’t think price has anything to do with it any more, I was doing a bit of skeet yesterday and had a bit if friendly competition with two guys at the club, I was shooting better than they where and they where very shocked when the spotted the brand of gun (Hatsan Escort), and one comment was “I spend more than that on cartridgesâ€
  15. Hey all, I have been having problems with my Lanber for a few weeks now, when I fire the bottom barrel and then the top barrel it will not always move over to the top barrel. If however I fire the top first, then the bottom it will always work, I have tried all types of carriage from my normal Hull Comp X 28g to 32G game loads and it will do it on all. The problem is intermittent, but very annoying when you are in a competition. I make sure that I take my finger off the trigger completely between shots so it’s not that. I have sent it into the shop I purchased it from, and they had a look and said they cant find a problem, but I took it out and had the problem straight away, and another bloke I was with tried it and he had the same problems. I am wondering if anyone else has had these problems, or knows what’s going on as the gun shop is not very helpful, I am close to asking for a new gun or my money back. Thanks all.
  16. Hey all, Can anyone recommend a good online retailer of equipment for clay shooting, skeet vests gun slips etc. I have found a few but the prices are very expensive. Thanks
  17. Hey all, I have just purchased another shotgun (getting addictive now) and I went for the escort Luxano combo. It is a bloody superb gun, it’s a limited edition comes with a 26†barrel and a 28†barrel multi chokes etc. The gun was £375 brand new, anyone who is considering a semi auto should really consider this gun, it is absolutely superb, on the day I purchased it I put well over 200 carts and it worked perfect using Hull Comp X.
  18. Does anyone know what the grounds do with all of the ones we put into the bins provided, I am sure they can be recycled.
  19. Hey all, I have heard that doveridge is up for sale, £3,750,000 if anyone is interested in buying, I think if we all joined forces we could just about do it hehe. Real shame, I have heard that developers are looking into the land for development... all we need is another superb ground getting closed.
  20. If I have had a stressful week at work, it would normally be 200, but if it’s just a normal few days it would be around 100 / 150.
  21. Hey all, I have been looking at a Left Handed semi automatic for a bit of fun, I have my left handed Lanber that I love, but I want something a bit different. I have been looking at the Webley 800 series as it comes in left handed, and also has a decent warrenty. Has anyone used one, are they any good? Thanks all.
  22. Hey m8, Funny i am a new shooter and i purchased my Left handed Lanber 30†Deluxe from mat at Doveridge. He is a good bloke, and I believe he is opening a new shop dedicated for left handed shooters. Garlands is ok, but imo it’s getting a bit tatty, and you can’t go solo shooting as they have no claymates system. You always have: SHUGBOROUGH SHOOTING SCHOOL Shugborough Shooting School Oakedge Park Wolseley Bridge Stafford Staffordshire ST17 0XS It’s a nice place, but they don’t have claymates on the traps so if you are a solo shooter you are stuck. I wish we had more choose in the local area, Doveridge is around 30 miles one way for me so it’s a long round trip.
  23. Hey all, Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy hull comp x plastic wad? Thanks
