  1. Had a search to find a date for this supposed review and found this http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/s3/commi.../08-PE1196C.pdf Not good. Idiots
  2. WGD - it is my understanding that the docking ban is to be reviewed in Scottish parliament sometime in April. I'm certainly hoping that it is and the ban is at least amended to mimic the England / Wales condition of showing SGC etc. Can anyone confirm when this review actually is?
  3. Any tips on construction? I was thinking of using L profile aluminium along the edges to keep the inside wipe clean sealed with silicone. Not sure if this will be strong enough to hold it together though?
  4. Stick her back on the rope and walk her back on your terms!
  5. Wow - you sure? I've bought from them before and they were spot on. They've recently merged with another company and seem to be very legit. I don't intend on buying that particular kennel anyway as it's a bit pricey and I'd rather have a crack at me own before spending over £300!
  6. I'm on the hunt for a reasonably priced low maintenance and easy clean kennel. I've found this one http://www.caninekennels.com/~sa_webapp/run.asp?page=15417 which is exactly the right size but is expensive enough to make me build my own out of stockboard or tuffnell. Does anyone know of any other manufacturers who are a bit cheaper - I'm happy to pay a bit for an easy life but over £300 feels a bit ott. Has anyone made their own out of stockboard etc.? Thanks for any advice / reccomendations
  7. Thanks for the advice chaps - very informative. I'd thought 50mm would be sufficient as the base is sound - was the bas of an old garage so was very hard packed. I had built up some areas to leave 50mm so can remove some packing to give more depth (****** - all that hard work!). Didn't even know you could such a thing as the barrowmix for small quantities - will check it out. Cheers
  8. I'm in a similar position and am going to a pointer and setter trial over grouse on Thursday to see the dogs work. I recently bought a book by Derry Argue which I think is called Pointers & Setters - sorry dont have it to hand. Try a search for Derry Argue and you should find it. He's a bit of an expert on the big breeds in pointers and the book has a bit of training advice. There are more good books but I'll have to speak to my pointer expert friend to see what they are.
  9. Can anyone help me work out how much sand, concrete and gravel to purchase for my new dog run... 4m x 2.1m x 50mm thick = 0.42m3 so I'm using a working volume of 0.5m3 What mix should I use for the run and how much of each component will I require? Thanks in advance for any advice
  10. As Dazza says above the seller hands the gun over to his nearest shop / registered firearms dealer then they send it to your nearest shop / rfd. It costs about £20 in postage and the same again in admin fees so about £50 or £60 all in on top of the cost of the gun.
  11. A friend is selling his mint Beretta Silver Pigeon S game in 28" multichoke, I know this gun well - it is like new having been very well looked after. He's in Leven, Fife, but RFD transfer could be arranged. FOR SALE: Beretta Silver Pigeon S, 12G Game Gun, 28inch barrels, Multi-chokes. Bought new late 2007 this gun has had little use, having fired only approximately 500 cartridges, and has been meticulously maintained as can be seen from the photographs. It comes in the original hard case complete with chokes, choke-key, spare butt-pad and Beretta literature. £950 Interested parties please contact me via PM and i'll forward his number.
  12. I've recently switched to 20g and have stocked up on RC20 T3s 28g 6 Limited stock of decent clay carts in the shop so had to go with Express - I'll see how they perform.
  13. My spaniels tend to go to the side of the hide they can see out of best
  14. I train my dogs to walk on the left as I carry my gun with my right arm, as do most. Simple as that!
  15. This is a route i've been looking into now - interesting you can get 4 fallow in one as it's mostly all roe with the occasional red we have. Getting 4 roe in one might just do us and there's some cheap ones to be had on fleebay (though not as cheap as yours!) so two would get us 8 chilled down. Building a reasonably well insulated easy clean larder and putting a drinks chiller inside could be a solution.
  16. Any tips on what to search for or brand names? Chiller unit or refridgeration unit not getting much success?
  17. It's funny I never thought of there but then you can get anyhting off fleebay. Cheers, I'll have a look
  18. A friend is building a larder for our deer carcasses and we're looking for a chiller unit which is capable of keeping the larder cool. It would need to be single phase (240V) and the larder won't be massive - probably 1.5m square or so (he's the builder so not sure what exact dimensions he has in mind). Anyone any tips for a good value unit?
  19. Nice to see a more positive reply to your question from Peltman Most dogs can be trained to retrieve and Pigeon are more easy because you don't have the problem of runners like game birds. You do have the feather problem to get over but being careful early on and using ferals for practice should sort that out. Your big problem is hard mouth as it is a big strong dog with (I imagine) no breeding requirement for a soft mouth. Don't wrestle toys with the dog and use soft light items to encourage retreiving. Don't be in a rush to take anything from him and try and make picking up a game with rolled up socks or something similar.
  20. It looks like this gun is now sold subject to the usual so thanks for your interest!
  21. That's what puts many off shooting them. Even blue hares on the hill scream and I'm not keen on it at all. We're like many on this thread in that we're lucky to see two or three in central Scotland. Haven't been driven hare shoots here for many years.
  22. For sale is my 682 Gold E Sporter in 30". It's in excellent condition, is very tight and has probably not even seen 1000 carts. Very minor scratches on the wood - otherwise perfect. Cased with 5 chokes and spare trigger and beads etc. A great handling gun and one which makes a good all rounder. Selling to buy 20g game gun and will trade-in if I don't sell within the next few weeks as there's a gun on the shelf I plan on buying. Been offered £1200 to trade-in so will sell for this and no less which is an absolute bargain. I'll even throw in alloy metal snap caps and a fleece lined gun slip to sweeten the deal :yp: I can probably sort an RFD transfer for a reasnoable fee too. Any more info. required please ask.
  23. Hi mate, there's a couple on fleebay - one buy it now for a tenner. It's a decent book, check out The Working Springer Spaniel by Keith Erlandson too
