Toombsy
You can see the video of Shakespeare Superteam's James Robbins showing off the latest rods and reels from the company's new Mach XT ranges HERE. Obviously he's biased, but having seen the complete range myself, it definitely offers great value for money throughout. Damn fine gear I reckon Edited October 2, 2009 by Toombsy
hendersons
don't know why but i lost faith in shakespeare tackle a few years ago, but can't seem to remember anything being particuarly wrong with it. Looking back it is a little strange that I felt this way i then started to use Drennan gear almost exclusively. I think i've grown up a little since then and just use whatever i think is best. nick
Cranfield
Originally, Shakespeare tackle was in the cheap and cheerful range, but with the general development of tackle over the years, it is now almost impossible to find any that is poor value anymore. Some of the big tackle names struggle to convince me to pay a premium for their product. When Okuma launched their cheaper (but as good as) range of reels a few years ago, they demonstrated the artificially high price of "quality" fishing reels. Its the same with fishing rods. I bought a cheap, made in Korea, no name, one trip, 12lb class boat rod to use over reefs in Ireland. Never even expected to bring it home with me, as it was going to get a hardcore hammering for a week. That was 10 years ago and its had a lot of hammerings since then and is still as good as any you could buy. It cost me £12.50. However, I have to admit to having quite a few rods purposely made by Bruce Ashby that are rather nice.
