Beardo
and whilst on the subject of H&K, has anyone ever fired one of these.... http://www.hksystems.com.au/r8.htm Straight Pull .223rem version of the SL
Baldrick
I recall a post on the BBS last year about H&K rimfires, warding prospective buyers off them due to scarcity of spare parts. The R8 will not be cheap - nothing black and plasticky from the H&K stable is.
mr salt
Never fired any of them. They will be good ,but not cheap. With regards to the rimfire i would get a kimber instead.(if i want something a little different from the norm) The black thing looked good, imagine the looks you would get if you went foxing with that!!!!! cheers scott
Beardo
i've found an R8 for sale in New Zealand - cheaper than i though £2800. i've just always loved H&K, they used to come and demo stuff to my old boss all the time, so have had the chance to fire MP5, MP5SD, USP, G3 etc. and always been impressed by the quality of them. just fancy the R8 for foxing (bloody heavy though) and a nice traditional .243 for deer stalking Edited October 15, 2009 by nickbeardo

Beardo
just been reading about the SL8 (semi auto version) - they're bringing out an SD version in .300 Whisper - a subsonic round made by necking-up the .221 Remington Fireball case to .308" and using a 240gr Sierra MatchKing bullet. middle one in this shot - feeds from a normal .223 mag. scary looking thing! Where I work alot ot of MP5`s are servicesd and repaired and they look well built :look: Oh they are indeed well built. They're also good fun to shoot, particularly the HK-53 and MP5 SD5. I got to use a PSG-1 also, which was really quite something. just been reading about the SL8 (semi auto version) - they're bringing out an SD version in .300 Whisper - a subsonic round made by necking-up the .221 Remington Fireball case to .308" and using a 240gr Sierra MatchKing bullet. middle one in this shot - feeds from a normal .223 mag. scary looking thing! An SL8 in .300 Whisper sounds very interesting for a variety of uses, namely creeping round like a Ninja and walloping Charlie in virtual silence. Windy
I have used a G36, which I suspect (from the looks/design) is what the R8 is developed from. The G36 is an awesome assault rifle. The one I used was fitted with Leupold sights. At Bisley, on the 400m range, colleagues and I got reasonable scores doing the snipers quali with the G36 (not the standard sniper rifle normally used)! Two colleagues actually got scores good enough to pass. I also scored well using it left handed (i'm right handed). Used this type but with Leupold sight. Beardo
yeah the R8/SL8 is a civilian rifle built on the G36 action
pigeon master
Oh they are indeed well built. They're also good fun to shoot, particularly the HK-53 and MP5 SD5. I got to use a PSG-1 also, which was really quite something. Yeah the HK-53 was a little cracker, similiar in style to the MP5 but fired the longer range 5.56 rather than the 9mm. Baldrick I'm thinking we may have played in the same back garden some time ago?? First I've heard of the HK Rimfire though, I'd love to hear some reviews so if anyone gets one make sure you tell us all about it.
