chris64
Just treated myself to new springer it's been year's since i used one had a pcp for the last 10yrs, liked the feel of this one only thing's is the awfull twang from the spring & the silencer's not brill, so eny surjestion's on what greese to use on spring & what silencer to screw onto the threaded silencer to give it that bit more reduction,or just get it tuned by some one like venom now that's a name from the past or gas ram it !!!!! aaron airgunner
i owned one of these and they are not that good, overrated. the stocks OK but it kicks and isen't th most accurate in the world only accurate to 25 yrds in my opinion. the silencer is rubbish. looking back on it now i was inexperienced and i went for the lightning xl because it was the most 'gunny' looking and was balanced. i should have gone for something like aan air arms s200 or a AA tx200, even one of th middle HW guns would have been better. lineshooter
Try Sandwell Fieldsports they can tune these and make them quieter, they are `twangy` until they have had a few hundred pellets though them and of course the spring is right next to your ear, get someone else to shoot it and stand to one side and of course safely down range and have a listen. The cocking aid/silencer is bonded to the barrel so I don`t think you can fit anything else, but I may be wrong, shooting the Lightning is a lot more involved than shooting a pcp, all about managing recoil etc, etc, I shoot an xl tactical in .177 great little gun, what pellets you using? buster321c
Agreed SFS is on my doorstep , and i messed with a 97 tuned by Tony Wall , and Jesus , what a gun . No kick , and virtually silent , a real gem .
chris64
trying premier ultra magnums in .22 see how i get on with them a mate is sorting a mix of pellets out for me all ive got is .177, it is noise when you shoot it and from behind but its not to bad in front to one side of course in a safe place but still needs to be quieter,
lineshooter
Chris, RWS Superdomes are supposed to be good in this rifle, as well as JSB Exact and Accupell, try as many as possible til you find what the barrel likes, have a look on Bsaog.co.uk for more info. mr salt
I have fired the xl a lot, i liked it. we just fired it ,it got better and better and after 500 pellets was great. i have pcps but i love bsa and hw spring guns. if shot well,i find them more rewarding.(they are harder to shoot well than a pcp) good choice good luck with it. scott
