claybreaker
we are thinking of buying a cheap shotgun under £50 and doing it up. any ideas on what you can get? Or is it not worth it? Edited October 27, 2009 by claybreaker
BlaserF3
I should imagine you might be able to acquire a single barrel Baikal for that type of investment but personally I wouldn't bother.
vole
Depends what you,re after but there seem to be plenty of sbs about that you could refurb, depending on your ability. I enjoyed cleaning up my GP Greener, seem to be a few of those around too if you want something original and possibly collectable in future. The o/u guns I have seen at that price have been well tatty. George1990
Only seen them at game fairs for that price. And usually the action is so worn and wobbly it's not worth re-blueing and doing the wood up

raymond
vanguard ? yep......spanish. i've got one. single barrel. i bought it for rough shooting, £25 including box of carts, about 5 years ago.. was full choke but i shortened it slightly. it is cocked by hammer. it is old but works fine. bought a baikal model 18 for £15. had been refurbed and shoots/looks great. both been somewhat overshadowed by the new escort magnum semi i bought on monday !!! 3jackwhite3
i bought a sable sxs for £45 its so tight i cant close it with a bit of paper in the way of the barrels and fireing pins. blueing was a bit worn but it shoots great i have put about 1400 cartridges through it since january and its still going strong. Cosd
I don't know anything about restoring guns, though I am about to reblue the barrels on my Browning Medalist O/U. I'd say "do bother", by a cheap gun, and you can do a practice run restore job. You can be as adventurous as you like and if you totally trash the gun which I'm sure you won't, at least you haven't lost much money. Perfect this and then move onto a better gun. Pay the right price buying the gun and you'll almost certainly make a profit if you sell it.
