Cranfield
I was on the beach at about 8.30am for a 10.15am high tide. The water was very clear and the sun was very hot. The mackerel were very patchy again, not in the huge numbers they were at the weekend. I fished until 10.40 am and had about 50. There were only a few other people fishing and everyone caught mackerel. Even when I was leaving a few were still being caught. :o

Cranfield
I have just had 6 nice fillets for my dinner, verrrrrry tasty (and healthy). It looks as though the weather is going to hold out until Thursday. What we don't want is a strong blow, that will break the shoals up even more. I may go down for that tide, depending how much room there is in the freezer. I will be the one in the stetson hat.

Frank
Lads, If any of you are coming over to Ireland in the next week or 2, make sure you bring lotsa feathers. Theres mackerell being caught left right and center, over here, i can tell you . Thousands, apparently, the big Russian trawlers are not operating this year, so there is more mackerell then ever . Cranfield
Frank, over the last 18 years, I have fished the Clew Bay area (out of Corraun) in every month, except November, December, January, February and March. We have always found mackerel for fresh bait and lunch. Its easier in the "traditional" Summer months, but I think the warmer Gulf Stream holds them close to the West coast, for most of the year. Fresh mackerel, brown bread and a BBQ , is hard to beat.
