oneshotkiller
........between spring recoil and gas ram recoil ? Is it sharper , harder more difficult to control ??
hunter1970
with spring control there is alot of bounce when the spring moves forward and tries to retract after..with gas ram its one solid thrust forward and no retraction.gas ram is the way to go in break barrel guns i loved them before goin pcp..recoil is greatly reduced. KFC
also the gas ram has less mass than a spring so therefore less recoil. Only my opinion, no figures to back it up, but the actual firing cycle seems shorter with a gas ram. More of a 'crack' than a 'boing' to be scientific. mez75
I've a Theoben scirroco gp, it certainly recoils less than springers that I've used & it seems quieter. The power is also adjustable via a schrader valve, press the centre of the valve in to release pressure (like a car tyre) add air using a scissor pump to increase power (obviously being carefull not to make it FAC rated). huntercarbine
with spring control there is alot of bounce when the spring moves forward and tries to retract after..with gas ram its one solid thrust forward and no retraction.gas ram is the way to go in break barrel guns i loved them before goin pcp..recoil is greatly reduced. the above is spot on. The spring releases pushing the gun back, at the end of its travel the compression of air forces the spring and piston slightly back again, which tries to push the gun forward. As a result of these forces, spring recoil forces the barrel to raise known as 'muzzle flip'. Spring gun tuners strive to reduce the compression (2nd) recoil as this makes the gun much more manageable. A gas ram already has none of the compression recoil, just the initial snap of the strut being released.
Wurzel
Gas Ram has a much quicker lock time too wurzel
air gunner
gas ram can handle heavier pellets. i fitted one around a month ago and i love it quicker lock time and overal more accurate. the recoil is solid but not hard compared to a spring and gas rams are generally far better in my opinion. Clubshot
I have a HW90 - Gas Ram - in .22 Nice rifle - used it again yesterday Was interesting - far better than a springer But still prefere my Precharge rifles Be very careful about pumping up or down As Sub 12FP Versions - Tend to break searing if over pumped Could result in loosing Gun - As when repaired - Theobans will be aware over powered BOB/R
