badshot
Can't explain it but last year in this part of Kent we had no acorns, absolute nightmare keeping the pigeons off my rape. This year we have a massive crop of acorns, so many that a few of the sheep have succumbed to acorn poisoning, and the pigeons have yet to start on the rape. Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
I can remember some twenty years ago I was on excersie on the black mountains when I was there for two weeks. Held up in a various locations the valleys around ystradfeltie was loaded with pigeons feeding on acorns. I was up the north side of fan fawr early in the morning I watched thousands of birds flight at least 2500 ft above sea level . I watched them with binos and could see them spiral down into the valleys and late in afternoon return back. Not that I was there to do recce on pigeons.
