BaconBoy
would it be safe to give my 2 dogs(lab 9 1/2 years, lurcher 15 months)a boiled hare, the meat is still on the bone,or would the bones be 'dangerous' maybe splinter and hurt/choke them
smig4373
I wouldnt give it my dog once it's been cooked..The bones become brittle when cooked.....You can do it when it's raw....Why dont you eat it....?? badshot
If your dogs are used to bones then ok, if not they do splinter a fair bit. As you have boiled it the meat will fall off the bones so probably best to not give them. It will also depend on if the dogs eat slowly or whether it disappears as soon as they look at it, if they bolt their food then again best not. Tobyb525
Boil it for 2 1/2 hours the the meat will drop off the bone without any effort and you can quickly dish it out for the dogs safely. Boiled rabbit/hare is mines favorite, she starts shaking the second I say 'rabbit'!

davecooper1
Boiled the odd rabbit before, for the dogs, and never give any bones to them, they love it. We have an old family pet, border collie, and she will sit watching the pan boiling, till its ready to eat.

DaveK
Give em it raw. That's what they'd do in the wild. All my dogs eat raw meat on the bone (including 3 litters of pups). rabbit, Hare, Pigeon, Fessy, venison. They love it and are all in tip top condition. the pups grew big and strong on a mixture of puppy food and raw meat.
