I use a pull through (strimmer wire) patch with a squirt of WD40 every few hundred rounds, then pull through a dry patch until it comes out clean, and a bore snake when it seems to be drifting off zero.

After the boresnake it takes a few rounds to get it back on song.

Some HMR's like to run dirty, and others like to be clean.

You will only find out what your's likes once you start shooting and cleaning.

Never store the HMR with the mod on, they get full of crud after a few rounds, and it is very corrosive.

Take the mod apart if you can and clean it after every 100 rounds, or better still after every outing.

Great, thanks.

I'll go to my rfd and buy what I need then, I'll try cleaning it and see what happens, if it causes accuracy problems I'll work something out.

Gram- when you say you clean every time- do you mean slovent, brush the whole lot or a quick pull through?

hello mate, i only use solvent after about 200 shots, this removes any hard nitro deposits. but give it a brush then a patch till it comes thru clean which is usually twice, after every session to remove any copper deposits.
