kyska
Hi All, How many variations of .17 hmr ammo do remington make? I ask as I have tried the gamepoint, in a blue stickered box, and my newest RFD has green labelled ones at a really good price, same weight, but I haven't seen them, so does anyone know if they are any different? Frenchieboy
The Remingtons that have the green label are quite likely "Remington Premier 17GR V-Max Boat Tail". I have a box sat in front of me as I type this. I bought them from my local RFD to compare to Harnady V-Max 17GR Red Tips which I bought with my gun for £19 per 100 and after trying 15 rounds of each type I have come to the conclusion that there is no noticable difference in accuracy between the two when fired through my CZ 452. I am getting these at £20 per 100 (Reasonable), just out of interest what price are you paying?
onlyme
to be honest i dont know , but i use the green and gold premiers , and have had no problems whatsoever.... the powder charge in them is very uniform also i have found, hence if i shoot at 200 yards when the wind is blowing i only get a maximum of 5mm height variation between shots (and thats being harsh , you could put a ruler upon the wind blown string nice straight line. pretty good going really .. I presume the greens aren't ballistic tipped or are they a hollow/solid bullet? I'm looking at £22 per hundred for the remington, £24 for the V max, but I have been assued if I buy 500 of the rem's I'll get discount. Thanks Kyska

Maybe I should buy a cz
onlyme
Not 5mm groups ! 5mm height variation upon a wind blown string of shot. Best I've managed is a 1" ish group at 200 with one a bit squiffy. Managed a fair few at 150 yards.its All down to that pesky wind. Wish the new batch of eleys in my lr were as accurate :-( the old batch wasn't far off the hmr as it is now. Just dicking about in the fields to see what it could do really. More than impressed to say the least ! Pity there aint a quick fix for judging the wind :-( only downfall of the little light round.
