gameshooter09
I'm thinking of buying a new air rifle for all round hunting use. Wondering if any of you guys have got any experience with any of these rifles or you can try and help me decide on my future gun. Many thanks
Ali-C
Same basic action iirc, I would personally go for the Mk.4, but that's only because I find it better balanced and I'm not the worlds biggest fan of bottle guns. Depends what you like, try handling them both and see which one you prefer. townsend819
They work off the same basic principles, the best thing to do is try them both and see which one you like most. I prefer the Mk 4 for sub 12 f/lbs where the airwolf at FAC. Not that I have an FAC or could afford either though...
UKPoacher
There's one thing to consider; should you decide to change the rifle an Airwolf takes some selling. Look at the classifieds pages.
Al Downie
I was in exactly the same boat last weekend - couldn't decide between the two, walked into The Airgun Centre in Rayleigh where they gave me cups of tea while I took an hour to stare and fondle both models, and in the end I walked out with the AirWolf. Despite being 'lumpier', it wasn't much heavier than the Mk4, and the balance of both guns was excellent. In the end there were two factors that made me swing towards the Wolf: 1) The shot count, obviously. I know the Mk4 should in theory give up to 160 shots, but I can easily use more than that on any day at the HFT range, zeroing and plinking for an hour before the competition starts. So I'd have to take my diver's tank along in the car, and that's a real pain. No such worries with the wolf. 2) The stock on the Mk4 S, although it's very beautiful and I wanted it really badly, didn't hold the cylinder very well - there was a wee bit of play at the very end of the stock, where the cylinder could be pushed back and forth. But every single bit of the wolf was rock solid. I like the design of the Mk4, and the aesthetics of the slightly shorter barrel, but in the end I bought the one which I think is the most practical choice for all the different types of shooting I do. If you DO go for the wolf, don't let anyone put a stud in the fore-end of the stock - get a Dr Bob Bottle Clamp for the front attachment. Annoyingly expensive for what it is, but a great bit of kit.
