mick miller
Well, I know everyone has their own opinion and not many are likely to criticize their own kit however, I need to know whether the extra £100 or so is worth it on some of the following (I've narrowed my choice to four): SM11 @ £50 or LEI @ £150 DM80 @ £115 PES 32mm MuzzleCan @ £165 That extra cash could be spent on a nice rifle lamp and battery belt you see... I know that there's little which can be done to tame the supersonic crack of the .17, I know that the SAK is way cheaper, although prone to burning out and not specifically designed for the .17, it is a disposable option. I'd rather buy once and have something serviceable for a few years, but the price of those last three makes me wonder 'are they worth it'? I hear great things about the diminutive LEI, mind you I hear the same about the SM11, DM80 and PES too... Help!

I'll be watching this topic, I have SAK for the very reason it was cheap, thing sounds like a cannon compared to my fac air!

mick miller
I like cheap, I really do. But I would like to tame as much of the noise as possible. I shoot with my mates CZ452 at the mo, which has a SAK mod and the crack is not inconsiderable. I like the sound of the DM80, not so sure about the sound of the distributor for them though. I hear great thing about the teeny weeny LEI, but I don't know anyone that's used one! (or the PES muzzlecan for that matter). Then there's the SM11, widely available, not a lot more than a SAK, dedicated to .17hmr but it seems a bit of a marmite mod if you catch my drift? Some wise PW'er may have just the answer I need (I hope)... anyone used the LEI yet?

mick miller
Well to be fair, I have heard very little about the LEI mod at all from PW'ers... Edited December 2, 2009 by mick miller
Beardo
i know the guy who designed the LEI (old family friend), and if it's anything like the quality of his other work (he does a lot of specialist contracting) it'll be amazing. However i've still not had the chance to try it - i've held one, it's tiny and build quality is very high. I'm currently waiting for my SAK to burn out, before i replace it with one. mick miller
Thanks Nick, the only concern I had with the LEI is that it cannot be stripped to be cleaned, I know that the .17 is a very dirty girl indeed. Do you think that would be a problem?
Beardo
possibly an issue - hard to say without having used one for while.
