UKPoacher
My 6 year old spaniel is just the same. If my wife didn't work at a vets we'd be bankrupt.
Malc
Maybe try ear drops or olive oil.
cracker
You should be able to get the ingredients herein http://www.jlsdals.com/PURPLESTUFF.pdf at any chemist's. It's foolproof for treating their ears, Labs and spaniels alike. Good luck, MG
ziplex
Our GSP had problems with her ears until we started using 'Epiotic' ear cleaner every few months, (or when she started digging at her lugs, used to make me flinch). It's not too expensive if I remember right and it's a mild formula too. It is a cleaner though not a treatment but it worked really well for her and in time she was quite happy to have it squirted in.

EvoCars
One of my dogs used to have bad problems with recurring ear wax probs, turned out in the end that he had ear mites irritating deep in his ear and causing the excess of wax
