The Big Red Fox
Rushy Lad says "Tarn" my fell terrier nailing a young one. She has single handedly caught over 300 rats in the last 14 months or so".
Yorkshire Pudding
Nice pics ! Congratulations once again rushy . Thanks BRF for sorting them pics out ! Got to ask do either of the terriers enter ? As the fell , looks like it enjoys the ratting . all the best yis yp
rushy lad
Yes y.p. both terriers go to ground well and stay too! "Tarka" is a bit too hard and will never give ground, but "Tarn" my Fell terrier is a really smart and clever Bitch and will stand off a bit giving tounge and never gets bitten. She fences with vermin and will always find in the deepest of places. Ground work is under too much pressure so I tend to do a lot of ratting with them nowadays. The Big Red Fox
Rushy lad says This is three of the biggest rats I have ever seen. That's a big feed bucket that they are in and I just wish I could have put something near to it so people could see how big they really are! These came from an impressive haul of rats one night at a chicken farm.
The Big Red Fox
Rushy Meant to ask mate in each of the pics where we can see your hands you have a good pair of gloves on............did you guys have a cold spell or what?
rushy lad
The pictures were taken early in the year but the gloves are not worn for protection against the cold, more like protection from the little ******s biting! I took the shots while my ratting mate did the rest!
SNAKEBITE
Thatpicture of the dog with the rat in it's mouth is the SPITTING image of mine! Although mine is 1/2 Jack and 1/2 Norfolk the face is identical. If I could I'd put pictures up but I don't know how!!
rushy lad
Hiya snake bite, Do you work your terrier?
SNAKEBITE
Hiya snake bite, Do you work your terrier? Not yet. This is the first dog that I have owned that I am "training". He is only 13 weeks old so I am starting him off slowly. The idea is to get him bringing the rabbits back eventually but ratting also sounds like fun!! rushy lad
Yes ,ratting with terriers is superb sport, especially when things go to plan. The more time you spend with your terrier in the field the better he will become, With terriers patience is the key. I have worked them now for over 20 years and I am still learning! rushy lad
Thats better! If you look at the picture of the two Ratting you will see that my fell bitch is untouched but "Tarka" is bitten. She just grabs the rats anywhere and usually gets bit, but the fell bitch very rarely gets touched and she catches the most out of the two! Same at ground work too. Thats why she is badly marked up but it is not always visible due to a lot of hair around her face.
