fieldwanderer
I recently sold a shotgun on here (I won't say who to) but I posted it directly to an r.f.d who explained to me how to do it legaly, I followed the instructions and all's well BUT the last thing I needed to do was to write to the police to tell them I'd sold it and where it went etc. I've just downloaded this; http://www.suffolk.police.uk/NR/rdonlyres/...otification.pdf which I was going to alter slightly and print, fill in and send to the police. Looks like I should've filled part of the recipient's ticket in Please tell me I haven't made a major problem for myself
dunganick
I believe the RFD would do this? (the other end)

fieldwanderer
Thanks guys, that's put my mind at ease. No offence intended to the guy who bought it - I just wanted to check really as it seemed such an easy thing to forget about.
hurstpol
I bought a shotgun off this forum via RFD transfer, and as far as the information allows you haven't done anything wrong on the face of it,what happens in a rfd transfer is that your rfd takes the gun off you, and for the purposes of paperwork it becomes his, he sends it to my rfd and again for paperwork purposes it becomes his, he then transfers it to me and signs and fills in my ticket, you should inform your local police authority that you have disposed of the weapon to your RFD. I think that is the procedure, but as ever someone else may have another opinion

fieldwanderer
it didn't go through an rfd this end though (but the recipient was an rfd) but I was assured what I did was a legal way of going about it.....

clayman
It is correct that only ONE RFD is needed in the transaction, because a cert needs to be filled in for a SALE F-2-F , but not a purchase that may be done remotely via an RFD. So, if your buyer arranges that his RFD has the gun collected from you, as noted by others, you have transferred the gun to the RFD and it is their responsibility to fill in the final owners SGC.
