benelli montefeltro
was just wondering if any of the other members from northern ireland on here would share any info with me as to where the pigeons are mostly around the country at the moment, and what they are feeding on? i did shoot a few stuffed with ivy the other day and hope they arent all scattered around the countryside in the hedgerows. i am in east down, beside hollow farm shooting grounds. thanks

benelli montefeltro
that dont sound too good monkeyboots! i need something to shoot in my last week of holidays, gave up on woodcock because was out for 3 days in a row at them for 1 bird! they arent that thick on the ground around here, and an awful lot of ground was covered for no return. in places i rose the most it was to dense to shoot them in! frustrating, but thats woodcock for you
berettaman
I think this is happening all over , i have been out on a field of rape that as a rule usualy displays the odd two or three hundred birds when you walk them off but once set up in the hide with deeks out you usualy get parties of between 8 to 10 birds coming to investigate the deeks this morning after a three hour sit in the hide i saw exactly 0 pigeons, they have obviously found food elsewhere
Dr D
there are plenty of birds about, but they are not feeding hard in one area and are difficult to decoy. I have been watching thousands of them for about 5-6 weeks now, but the absence of any wind and the fact that they are also still on barley stubbles quite often has made the shooting useless. I suggest you stick at the woodcock. at least you'll get a shot. At this rate it's going to be the new year before the pigeons move on to green's and/or spuds. benelli montefeltro
i have shot a few over the barley stubbles, but you are right, they are extremely hard to decoy at all! in fact had the best shooting flighting them into a wood just.
