magnetandsteel
Been out with the cocker a few times this week when I noticed his skin had gone really scabby and flakey. I first thought it was just cut after him working through the trash and undergrowth. It seems to be worse around his chest and upper back. Took him to the vet who didn't seem to concerned he just said to moniter it for a week and if it doesn't clear up to take him back. Any one got any ideas as to what it could be and possible cure. I changed his food about a month and a half back and he had Rabbit boiled and taken off the bone this week for the first time. These are the only changes to his diet I have made. It doesn't seem to bother him as he's not itching it but does appear to be losing some hair around the worst affected areas. Cheers all Dai
activeviii
cockers get a thing called dry eczema and wet eczema. mine had it but by adding a little more fish oil to his feed it soon cleared up, never had the problem since but he now loves his sardines. he like the lidl ones best, half a tin a day with his kibbles. he has one of the best coats i have ever seen. ATB Phil. Edit: just found this Page 63 Edited January 4, 2010 by activeviii
magnetandsteel
Cheer Phil that sounds spot on. I started him on sardines this week on the advice of a mate. Dai
magnetandsteel
Changed his food to Wainwrights hypo allergenic and tin of pilcahards a week and seems to have done the job. :yp:

Imperfection
A tablespoon of vegetable oil added its food a few times a week should help with dry skin too.
v-max
Not disbuting the oil thing but my cocker is the exact same but it is from working as he is a hard hunting dog & he is full of scars/scabie skin. His muzzel looks like a terrier's muzzel that has seen a lot of fox hole work & he gets pus spots on his under side around his dinky.
