wabbitbosher
AFAIK the A5 was never made in 3 1/2 inch I've just started home loading.with a lea loader,is it possible to put to much shot in,and what will the result be? The Quick answer is Yes ! Home loading is not as easy as it first seems , you can put hundreds of powder to shot combinations in a Cartridge depending on Size of cartridge Type of powder thickness of fibre wad Type of plaswad lee loaders are adjustable to take different shot to powder mixes Now if you put a fast powder in a heavy loaded cartridge you could find your self in a LOT OF BOTHER slow burn powders go in Heavy cartridges Fast burn in light loads Medium burn in ,,,,,,,,,,, You guessed it READ THE INSTRUCTIONS !!! on the powder cartridge and loader and before anybody comments you Can get a 3 1/2 inch cartridge in a chamberless shotgun OK a semi might not cycle them EEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR YOU ONLY NEED TO DO IT ONCE !!!! Mec 9000
I've just started home loading.with a lea loader,is it possible to put to much shot in,and what will the result be? The question has been answered but could I suggest that if you are a beginner get a good set of scales and weigh all powder and shot charges until you get used to it when experience will tell you when things are not right. Also learn about wads and the difference between compression cases and parallel cases. By your question I assume you are a beginner. MC
Providing you use a set of scales to find out what each bush is throwing then I can't see how you can get a double charge from a lee loadall, or at least not without getting a load of shot in with it as well. You only do one cartridge at a time and the slide only loads up with powder again after you have dropped the shot into the case. So if you do slide it across again you will end up with a heap of powder on top of your shot.
