Eating snow = squits?

Hi,

Our dog (2 year old border collie / retriever cross) seems to have an upset tummy since we've had the snow. He does keep eating the stuff and we wonder if it's giving his tummy a chill?

I was greeted this morning with a collection of yellow puddles and pancakes this morning - at 5:30am. Not nice and I struggled to remain sympathetic with the poor lad.

Anybody got these problems with their dog?

Steve

I had at the start of the snows, but the vet thinks it was an infection, and it was only one of my dogs that had it. She was pyrexial when I had her checked and it seems to have settled with antibiotics. Mind you it didn't stop the wife coming out with all the "don't eat the yellow snow" jokes she could think of.

My 11 month lab has just started to do the same from yesterday evening. Is your dog kenelled outside as my dog is and not sure whether or not he has caught a chill but it has only seemed to have started since it got milder and the snow has melted not when it was minus 9! If he is still like this this evening think best to take to vets first thing tomorrow.

Our dog lives indoors (sleeps in conservatory) although he has spent long periods (4hours+) outside on walks or disappearing after chasing rabbits. It's always possible he's picked up something and eaten it that he shouldn't have, but who knows.

I agree we'll get him along to the vet shortly if he doesn't perk up. He's being starved today.
