vole
I am going to ask a colleague to be one of my referees for my application. When it comes to stating the purpose I am happy to put targets and vermin but do I have to state Fox? I hope to get a .22 centrefire some day but does she need to know about fox being a possible quarry? She is ok and knows I shoot rabbits etc but wonder how much she has to know. It says the referee has to fill in the 125 form and send it straight to the Feo. Thanks for any info.
harv
mine states fox aswell as other vermin whilst foxing or words to that effect for the centre fire, you should put that down otherwise i guess it would be target only.
vole
Thanks Harv. Do they have to specify it or me though? It also asks what type of firearm, does it have to say rimfire and centre fire or would rifle be ok on this form ?
harv
Thanks Harv. Do they have to specify it or me though? It also asks what type of firearm, does it have to say rimfire and centre fire or would rifle be ok on this form ? you have to state it as in having "good reason to own one" type is asking bolt action/semi auto etc then rifle/pistol etc, there is a seperate box for calibre put 22lr or .223 etc you can put rimfire or centrefire but not req'd. Paul223
Just leave it as vermin, the feo will ask why you want a centerfire for vermin in your interview with him, then you can say vermin surely includes fox if he disagrees except this and ask him to amend to vermin and fox he'll put down fox in his notes and that should sort that, without your ref needing to know
cowboy1403
she dosen`t need to know what you plan to shoot but tell her anyway just incase when the FEO contacts her it get mentioned.

albob
the referee is only for a character reference..not about what you shoot, unless your your referee is not to happy about it. also as the form for a referee is seperate from your application for an fac, then she does not know what is on your form,as she will never see it. al Edited January 16, 2010 by albob
CharlieT
the referee is only for a character reference..not about what you shoot, unless your your referee is not to happy about it. also as the form for a referee is seperate from your application for an fac, then she does not know what is on your form,as she will never see it. al However the referees do have to sign form 101 declaring that sections 1 - 16 are correct and it is on this form that you must list the quarry you wish to shoot. You may not get a c/f without requesting fox as a quarry species and by not putting it on your application would start the application process off on the wrong foot. albob
i see what you mean charlie but,you can just put vermin and finalize the details with your feo.. al
hawkeye
Different forces can get different results i applied at renewal for vermin/ fox/ and any legal deer for my caliber 223 came back fox only they class 223 for vermin as overkill...(Cleveland Police ) i used to have hare as well on my 223 but not anymore.. When i queried this to save taking 2 guns and maybe having to leave one in the car my FEO said just use it nobody will say anything....but we will not put vermin on a 223...
