BlaserF3
There will be two letters in a little square on the barrel which when used in conjunction with the chart will give you the proof date.

JonD
Thanks all, I went and had a look at it today, it was a 2008 but not in the condition I would expect for the price. They wouldn't take a PX against it as it was a customer gun and the warranty can't be transferred. I'd have taken a punt at £700 but not £895 so going to wait a bit and get a new one, or SH if a decent synthetic turns up locally. Cheers, Jon. JonD
Yep, i'm not in any hurry. If it had been in the same condition as yours i would have gone for it. There was a scrape on the trigger guard, the fore end cap seemed to have quite a bit of wear as did the bolt and marks on the barrel didn't add up to the very little use they said. If they had had a new one i'd have gone that way, like i say the price to me was far to high and there have been better guns on here for less. It wasn't a wasted day, my mate got a cracking deal on a new 525 and I finally got a boresnake not to mention to the hole in my hand i got whilst cleaning the gun i was going to PX lol. Jon. mickmep
keep an eye out , one will turn up. guntrader is a good place to look price wise that was a lot for a second hand one. mine was £925 new, i did have to pay £25 rfd to get it sent though, but it was still £250 cheaper than the local rfd (£1200 for exactly the same gun).
