Most mod land is looked after by a company called Landmark so try looking them up and asking Good luck, but you might find it difficult, most mod land is conservation areas, and the land people can get on to shoot is very tightly controlled, and when they need to control vermin etc,its normally by way of organised shoots just to give you a rough idea,i live and work in the Aldershot garrison, which has a lot of mod land, and only 10 vermin control permits are issued every year and its on your permit the areas you have access to,its very tightly controlled, much of the land has public access, but like you say its worth a go,good luck i let my permit go in the end,it was too much hassle BB
tlennox
Don't fancy your chances mate sorry. My main shoot is RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire and you would not believe the fight we have every year to keep the shoot going. There has to be a certain number of military personnel involved and every single thing that we shoot has to be documented to justify our access to the shoot. With it being an RAF base we justify it as bird control for aircraft protection. You can only ask but I wouldn't build up your hopes. zab10
i shoot on mod land through landmark support services we are in a vermin control syndicate which has 12 members , we can only get use of the land when there is no operations on it so we have to phone a control office to check availability then mod police to let them know of our activities . if we are lamping we have to phone another number to let them know incase they think there are poachers on the ground . these things can be a bit of a pain in the a**e at times . plus we have to fill out a kill report sheet every 3 month and send them to the guy who runs the syndicate . shooting insurance is a must and admin cost have to be paid by syndicate members (which isnt a lot of money)
Dekers
It's not easy but possible, done some work at MoD Sites, a Helicopter RAF/Naval base on the South Coast, and I was in Arborfield REME HQ this afternoon having a chat about this very subject. This site is surrounded by loads of farmland, and is the "Offices" etc for the high ranks and also an occasional residence for the Royals, so as you can imagine there is still some talking to do!
