john muir wildfowling is on a council run permit scheme you can find it on the local council web site or in basc wildfowling booklet , aberlady bay is a no shooting zone unless you live in a 5miles radius of the bay then you can apply for a permit from the same council .

if you plant them soon you should be able to buy them bare root a lot cheaper than potted , but you will only have about another month to do it . try any nursery local to you and they will be able to advise on plants which give good ground cover . we planted willow in our old pen and the birds loved it

off the top of my head ive had 4 mallard 3 goldeneye 2 teal 4 wigeon 5 pinks and 3 greylags , same as most other posts had a good start to the season but not done much since the clocks changed then had a good few outings in xmas hols but never had any decent fowling weather so bags were low/nil with floods everywhere and geese staying out all night on flooded stubbles . countryfile weather forecast predicts a bitter cold week with snow and ive booked a days pheasant shooting for sat if we get the cold spell predicted hopefully i will get some more shooting before the end of the season , all this week ive seen geese flying back north , cock pheasants sparring crows building nests

i stay well clear of them nowadays , i used to be a regular customer to the angling center and pd tackle in my pike fishing days and then glasgow field sports when i took up shooting again , i bought a pair of prologic max4 waders at £120 wore then 8 times and the boot cracked . i phoned explaining what happened and was told bring them back with the receipt , couldnt find the receipt so phoned again and told nothing they could do . now i was a regular customer and this was my first complaint but they wouldnt budge on it even although they could remember me buying them . i traced the waders back to main supplier sent them to them with a note inside box explaining they were faulty and within 5 days a new pair was delivered , why they couldnt do this is beyond me but they lost my custom that day .
