beretta tekneys and shims

From memory. Disassemble the gun. Unscrew and remove the butt plate. Using the appropriate sized box spanner undo the stock bolt and remove the metal stock spacer found inside the stock.

Remove the stock. Place the appropriate cast/drop shim on the head of the stock. Replace the stock. My memory is a bit hazy at this point, but you have to ensure that, when replaced, the metal spacer in the stock is seated the correct way round. Obviously, the angle of the stock in relation to the position of the stock bolt/spring tube will be different and it may be necessary to reverse the stock spacer. Replace the nut and tighten adequately. Replace the butt plate.

You`ll see what I mean more easily when you get inside it and apply a bit of common sense. It`s a straightforward job and should only take a few minutes. Consider using a small piece of blu-tac inside the spanner to hold the nut in place when relocating it.

Hope I`ve got that right and that the new Tecknys is`nt significantly different from my old 391.

Place the gun on it's muzzle and remove the recoil pad,If it has a Geltek pad slide the clip out at the bottom and the pad will come off.If it has a normal pad, this has two Phillips headed screws.Using a 13mm socket and extension remove the stock retaining nut and lock washer. The plate that remains determines the cast and drop of the stock.Remove this plate.Remove the stock.Between the stock and the receiver there is a plastic spacer that fills the gap.You should get two each of these. Both the plate and the spacer are marked with four degrees of drop and right or left cast. They are marked 50,55,60 or 65 and DX or SX.The figures are the amount of drop adjustment.DX means right cast,SX means left cast.Decide what drop and cast you want, let's say 60 drop and right cast.Find the plastic spacer that has DX and 60 on it and place it on the receiver with the markings facing you.Refit the stock ensuring that it is properly engaged in the receiver.Identify the spacer you require,DX 60.Fit it back over the threaded tube in the stock, this more easily achieved if you slide it down a screwdriver or piece of rod.The DX 60 marking should be facing you.In same way refit the lock washer and nut.Tighten the the nut securely but don't go mad.Refit the recoil pad.
