foghorn
Hi Chaps, set up yesterday in hedge back where i had seen 1,000 bird flock the day before. hide decoys and magnet, not much action missed a couple but i was drawing a few in, although they were high. Then a large flock came over maybe 200 birds, circled high then landed in at the other end of the field they then only moved when the gas gun went off, they seemed only keen to land in the last hour or so of daylight , last feed before bedtime. It seems that there is a lot of rape about and if they are unsure of landing in one area can easily move to another, i think the answer is multi guns set up around a field. A further recce is required. I would be interested in anyone else s opinion. FOGHORN

TJ91
i am from york/malton area and i am having the same problem, plenty of options for them and not been able to draw them to my decoys, they go to the other side of the field, get up when they hear a bang and go to the next field or to the the numerous fields within a mile radius , its frustrating. i am trying to get permission from the farmers to invite a few shooters and get 1 gun on as many fields as possible, i did it before where i used to live, keeps them moving and gives more chances (usually) like the above thread, i would jump at the chance to help you keep them on the move!? big simmo999
There is that much rape about now (if you are flying anywhere when the rape is in flower you would be amaazed at how many fields the pigoens have to choose from) that you would need an army of guns to cover the area. A good ploy would be to shoot on a saturday during the game season because there may be syndicates shooting as well. I don't know the answer - I wish I did, because with more land being used for rape to make bio fuel this problem is only going to get worse. I am thinking of going down the silenced/moderated route with sub sonic cartridges
Windy
Yup! I have permission on 80 hectares of OSR. Was in the biggest field for 5hrs today. Could see flocks dropping in to fields adjacent to mine Only had two groups come into my deeks all day. First spot I chose was a total blank. Saw a group of about 20 using a spot at the far end from where I was, so moved there. They were keen as mustard on this spot. Just as I got all set up, a dog walker appeared and after that they didnt come back. As you say, they have plenty to choose from, really agree you need multi-guns to move em about. Also, after about 1pm all went deathly quiet.
