shoughton
Whilst visiting a gunshop on Friday afternoon I noticed that they stocked most, if not all, of the Teague chokes - including some for Lanber shotguns. Has anybody had any experiences with these chokes in Lanber guns? I would be interested to hear if they improve patterns. Steve
BlaserF3
I would not like to be pedantic but why not just put a tighter choke in Unless you pattern every choke that you have you will never know what the difference is when you change them. clutey
Hi Steve, I did at one time have a Lanber and checked the pattern from a couple of it's chokes I have to admit I wasn't impressed with the results. I have never tried Teague chokes but going by their reputation they could be well worth a try.

clutey
Yep Blaser I did, I was using Gamebore white gold and the mate had if I remember right GB's and I tried some of them. The White gold were the better of the two but as I said not impressive at all.
BlaserF3
I've tried a few different cartridges years ago and just by shooting a felt skeet load compared to a good plastic trap shell the pattern would change from imp.cylinder to full. That's why I said try a tighter choke the markings on a choke are a guideline, nothing else.
clutey
There was an article in one of the Shooting magazines either last month or the month before, about the differnces between skeet shells and trap shells. Basically the skeet shells are designed to throw their proper pattern at 20yds or so and the trap shell is designed obviously to pattern around the 40yrd mark, I think it all had to do with what type of powder was being used ie; slow burning or fast burning. So it would make sense with what you have said Blaser. PS I should have said when I patterned with the 2 types of shells they were both 9's Edited February 9, 2010 by clutey
BlaserF3
cluety, It does make a nice change to converse with someone who is both concise and polite
clutey
Cheers Blaser. We should maybe start up a mutual admiration society and keep it just for the two of us. Keep the umbrellas handy for the incoming.
shoughton
Thanks for the replies - I have tried many different cartridges and all of the chokes that were supplied with my Lanber - my question didn't really suggest that I hadn't, did it??? My question was really intended for anybody who had first hand experience of using Teague chokes in their Lanber. Do they pattern better, in general, than the standard chokes supplied with the gun for any given cartridge.
