Billy.
Just out of interest really... I used to really want the Safari model when I was younger and I just missed out on getting it before the ban came in. Did anyone on here request to keep theirs and make it a Sect 1. Firearm? Oh and if I were to apply for a FAC airgun, could a get one of these, or does no one sell them any more? (Obviously it'd not be as powerful, it'd just be a great little gun to own!) EDIT: I take the last bit back after reading the law on it "Anyone who manufactures, sells, purchases, transfers or acquires a self-contained gas cartridge weapon on or after 20 January 2004 will commit an offence under the Firearms Act 1968. You will be liable for a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and will soon be liable for the new minimum sentence of 5 yeas." Shuck.
thats strange, your right all brocock air cart systems are all banned.. I assumed the extract on your post was just referring to the air pistols.. doesnt really make sence why you wouldnt be able to sell them as if it was already on a licence then it would have a valid serial.. why not sell them to another FAC holder
lineshooter
I have six Brocock pistols on ticket and it is really annoying that to comply with the law I had to upgrade my security, alarm cabinet etc but I cannot sell these ever, even to another Fac holder, I doubt if i will even be able to pass them on to my lads, I did at one time have the Saxby and Palmer Herald which was based on a Midland full bore rifle, I sold that well before the ban and luckily got nearly as much as I paid for it. I dont know how succesful the air cartidge system is, or was for rifles, I seem to remember it was a lot of pumping for very little ft/lb. The pistols are a bit more fun, nothing like loading six cartridges into a cylinder and shooting Police Pistol, with a well prepared cartridge I get 5.5ft/lb which is quite a whack from a 22 pellet. arjimlad
It was the need to put my Pietta New Model Army 1860 Brocock on FAC that made me take the plunge, since then I have become a happy .22lr and .22FAC air shooter So ta v much Mr Blair - not quite what you intended, I am sure. I still get the Pietta out from time to time - it makes a lovely blat and deals with tin cans beautifully.
Billy.
In all fairness, I think the ban was right though... Anyone with access to some metal working tools could turn a BACS pistol into a live firing handgun...! ..Shame though, as I would have like to own one!
