dunganick
out of intrest how old are you? dont get a hmr instead, get one as well, you need to phone up your local firearms Dept. and ask for a variation form, you then fill it out asking for a 17hmr and send it off, x number of weeks later they tell you yes or no, and you either get a hmr slot or you dont. dunganick
why wait as soon as you are 14 you can have one, you cant use it on your own, but as soon as your 17 you can im 16 and have had my fac just short of a year now, i can only use my rifle when under supervision of someone aged over 21 i believe, on land that is cleared (condition on my ticket)
whippet.22
17 is the age you are free from all age restrictions, not 18. It surprises me how so many shooting people don't know the law. Not having a go at you, I just think the police should at least run over all the basics of the law with FAC and SGC holders. Or at least give you a sheet with all the basic laws on when you get your certificate.

Frank
If i had to pick three best caliber for foxes and only 3, then it would be like this. 1. .223 Rem. 2. .22 Hornet. 3. .22-250 Rem. For Humane reasons, the .22 centerfires are the best. The police should reconise this as a fact. Since your going for bunnys as well, then the .22 Hornet would suiet your needs, fitted with a T4 Moderator. What I mean is for the average owner of firearms, it's easy to think (I'm guilty of it myself) that every firearms owner has access to the internet and a good shooting forum, but when you speak to a lot of them you realise how little most of them know about the law apart from what directly relates to them. Edit: What I mean to say is that they should give people a copy of this chart when they collect the application form from the police station, as most people don't get their forms from the internet. This would have the twofold effect that a potential applicant has only to ask someone who already has a certificate who can then produce the chas=rt they have already been given. dunganick
yeh point taken, just making a point, i think alot of this confusion is done on purpose by plod, it stops alot of younger shooters applying for their certificates untill 17 or 21 becuase they think they cant, and unless you delve deep inside the firearms guide, not many people say otherwise.
