vole
The I shoot on has been inspected and I presume passed as I had my fac drop on the doormat on Saturday. I took it to the range and a few of the shooters were surprised it does not state which farm I can shoot on specifically, only the Club range.Like a post I read a while back it says"I can shoot on land deemed suitable by Chief of Police where I have permission". I really dont want to send it back unless I have to.Is this how they are worded normally?
monkeymagic1969
Mine does not state any individual farm or piece of land - so you have no worries (FAO will know where you have clearance for, also if you gain any other land that has previously been passed, then you can shoot there without having to get it checked )
Dekers
It is common practice to make mention of the gun club you shoot with for target work on your FAC but it is unusual to have a list of Vermin sites written down on it. No need either!

Billy.
Why make life harder for yourself...?! If it says that, then excellent. I'm not sure why you'd consider sending it back to get more restrictions put on it.

This pretty new to me and am delighted to have got my cert in time for the spring. Just a couple of experienced shooters I was talking to said it was not worded in the usual way. I have farmers written permission in my pocket which is plenty good enough for me but did not want to get caught out.
sixhills 69
The wording is standard on all section 1 certs if you do get any other land to shoot on wheather it is passed or not you have to inform your firearms dept in writing and wait for there confermation before you start shooting. The land will be added to your file and will cut down unwanted visits by fire arms officers. it will also help keep your ticket.

Makes sense and quite handy as there is another farm I have been offered shooting on. Thanks.

Billy.
I don't just ring them up no need to put it to them in writing First I've heard about this. When my ticket was closed, I'd just shoot on land I knew was cleared and if I didn't know, I'd call to check if it was cleared (Not giving my details) and now my ticket is open, I don't ever call the FLD
454697819
I had it explained by my feo yesterday that as a novice on a FAC you get to use land which is cleared by the FEO, this has to be done for each piece of land. ( he did not say if it is written on the FAC or not) He then explained that after some years or experience the ticket becomes open.. i.e you can shoot on any land you deem suitable. Dont know if this helps at all Regards

The Open ticket gives you the freedom to deem a piece of land safe or not. Edited March 24, 2010 by harfordwmj
