FAC Application - Referees

Hi All,

 

I am just about to apply for FAC and make my SGC coterminous (have held SGC for around 30 years).

Have read loads on the forum regarding application / referees and also read the BASC guidance notes on applications.

 

The one question I do have is does it matter if your referees don’t live that close to you?

 

I can see in the ideal world the two referees would live locally to you and would then be well placed to know your domestic situation and as much as possible about your day to day life…

 

For me however (I obviously don’t get out enough!!) most of our closest friends live 100+ miles away. I am wondering if anyone has ever come across this on an application and if it has been queried whether the referee can actually know you that well if you live several counties apart!!

That shouldn't be a problem but frankly when it comes to referees every FEO seems to have a different view. There is a lack of consistancy.

http://police.homeoffice.gov.uk/publicatio...pdf?view=Binary May be of some help to you.AFAIK distance is not the issue if your referees see you regularly,for some reason "at least 4 times a year on a personal basis" comes to mind but others may advise you better.
