GREY
Hello, I have recently purchased an older style Lanber o/u and I was wondering how to age it? I have read up on her about looking on the Lanber website but the page I need seems to be under construction. The S/N is 252312 12-70 Thanks for your help. paul1966
i think its the last two numbers of the serial making yours 1970, not 100% though.
Imperfection
i think its the last two numbers of the serial making yours 1970, not 100% though. The 12-70 means its a 12 gauge and has 70mm chambers. Have no idea with how to age a lanber though, but would like to know cos i have one too. sitsinhedges
It is usually a serial number then a year of manufacture then gauge then chamber length and it is printed underneath the top lever of the gun 123456-07-12-

Wrighty112
Does this work on all serial numbers for all shotguns???
sitsinhedges
Does this work on all serial numbers for all shotguns??? No, Berettas for example have a couple of letters inside a box elsewhere on the gun. It's also worth remembering that a gun with a given date of manufacture may have also spent a couple of years on the gunshop shelf before it was sold. I seem to be missing a couple of numbers. I think they might have changed the numbering system since my gun was made.
berettaman
Take it to a gundealer then he should know what the original proof stamps say then you will have a rough idea as to how old it is,nearest most of us can get is within a year as guns spend long times in shop racks etc,but that is probably your best bet BM
GREY
Thanks I will go to my local gundealer and see what he reckons.
