tosspot
In red, they certainly assist in low level light conditions, but easy to leave on when not needed and run the battery down I got the 6.5-20x50 AO IR and another similar, think they come in at around £140, prob cheaper if you shop about
Dekers
Interesting one this, I see some people do like them, personally I find them a complete waste of time. If it's light enough I don't need them, and if it isn't I use the lamp. Never found a situation where they were useful yet. I have 2 illuminated scopes and I don't remember the last time I turned either of them on! ATB!

bullet boy
MTC Viper scopes have excellent illuminated SCB reticles.,but they are out of your price range.
jackinbox99
Myself and a lot of people I know get good results with the cheapie tasco scopes. They are excellent value for money, good magnification / range of features and have green / red 6 stage illuminated. Personally, as someone else on here said, ive found that ive never needed to use it, but its nice to know if i want it the scope has that feature. deputy dog
I use niko game king on my rifle. Their about £85 to £95 pending dealers variations. I have th 4 *16*44 mag with IR . Very nice good all round scope sub £100 price which does the job well.
Al Downie
I'd get a non-IR scope with better glass and reticle. I did have an IR scope once, thinking it'd be useful for daytime shooting dark quarry against a dark background, but never used it. And as Dekers has said above, for night-time shooting you need a lamp. I started out being a real gadget freak about scopes, but as time goes on I'm looking for the most fuss-free, feature-free, fixed-mag (10x), fixed-parallax scope (25yds) I can find with the best glass and finest mildot (or variant). I reckon that the more nobs there are to turn, the more likely they are to go wrong and possibly shift your POI. Stay away from nobs! Nobs are BAAAAD! *Edited for spelling because the sweary-filter doesn't like the proper spelling! Edited April 6, 2010 by Al Downie
